The partially squared rims can be a little misleading but matte proofs should have fully squared rims AND a sharper strike and different (almost chiseled-like) surfaces. These are clearly business strikes.

There are millions of 1909 vdb cents out there and a handful of matte proofs. I have no doubt that statistically you have a far better chance of being struck by lightning than of finding a MPL in the wild.
I have never posted a link before so am holding my breath in hope that it works. The thread above has links to more threads and resources for MPL diagnostics for each year. It's a place to begin your tutorial.
Ty, here's my problem. I purchased a collection that contained 7 gold 1880s pocket watches, 20 gold coins, Georg Jensen jewelry from early 1900's, and a slave lock from the civil war with an old auction tag, the only pair of Tiffany shoe buckles I've ever seen, Cartier diamond and gold stick pin, hand made old Navajo jewelry, an 1860's poison ring, plus I've graded a few of the coins already and I ended up with a 1921 peace ms63, 1919p buffalo nickel ms65, and 1922B 2 francs ms66. So I'm not trying to be super hopeful about everything, I just know where they came from which was a family with a long line of millionaires. I know how easy it can be to let something great slip away just bc I didn't double check oddities I notice on the item. I'm dedicated and driving myself nuts at the same time. But when I find that special something .... We all know that feeling, and it makes it all worth it. God bless the coin hunters. Seriously thank you all for being so kind and helping me along.
You could spend $100 and send them to PCGS. It would put your mind at ease and you could sell or save them afterwards. Depends if you can afford to gamble $100 away.

MPL rims will almost always have sharp squared edges on both inside and outside.
There will be a die scratch protruding from the shoulder toward LIBERTY. There will also be a curved die scratch running from the top right of the B in LIBERTY.
Look for a series of die scratches in front of Abe's nose
On the reverse there will be an upside down crescent shaped die gouge to the right of UNUM.
Watchbelieve, you keep on searching if you enjoy it. Don't let others deter you.
If I listened to similar voices when I was in your shoes, I wouldn't have the coin that is my avatar, now in a MS-65 slab...for less than $100 off ebay.

No. Most 1909 Lincolns are very well struck.
Nope.
Lance.
The upper left looks promising as a high grade (if there is luster), but as the others have confirmed, no Proofs among the bunch.

I too vote NO.
OINK
No, the letters are rounded off and not squared like a proof.

You can rule out and VDB being an MPL if the dot between the D and B is not centered. All proof VDB's are of this variety.
If the dot between the D and B is closer to the D it is not a proof.

Amazing info especially from robec. Ty to Infiniti.
But now that I looked closer .... Now what do I do lol? There's no dot.

Time to check diagnostics.

So I just found this worn 1909 v.d.b. And the dot looks centered. Any thoughts are appreciated.

And you think I am a troll. Very snarky. Very PITA. You don't want to be educated, you just want somebody to buy your stuff at inflated prices.
He isn't the only one that thinks that.
Not MPLs. But keep looking. I once found one raw at a dealers table and bought it for $12. PCGS graded it PR65RB.
