    I like it. I'd much rather see animals on coins with the exception of a few people who have made a real positive difference in history.

    Foreign experts. Please take a look at the "C" on this coin and compare it to the "C" in "Centesimo" on the OP's coin. What do you think? Then, I'll say what I think.

    I'm absolutely no foreign expert but I see the c is a different shape. ??

    Two different C's.... also, OP coin says Centisimi and your coin says Centisimo..... (10 vs. 1)... So the font changed with the denomination. Cheers, RickO

    I remember having seen coins from a country in Africa. me think they have a pair of hunting lions on the coins. Am not sure anymore....loosing brain cells rapidly :'(

    Thanks guys! Here is what I think:

    Color me dumb! I had a brain fart and neglected to look at the entire coin. As soon as I saw the OP's coin, I pulled this one out thinking it might be a new variety. LOL!

    Since they are different denominations, the minting facility may have kept different sets of letter punches for different denominations. The word centesimi on the 10 centesimi coin afforded slightly more surface area on the coin within the inner circle for the full C than than it did on the 1 centesimo. Instead of using an oval shaped O on the 1 centesimo, a round O was used - the diameter of the inner circle on both coins appears to be the same.
