NN: Pawn Stars Rick Harrison to shave head of NGC's Miles Standish at the ANA Convention August 3rd

Good old numismatic lighthearted fun for charity.......should be a crowd pleaser!!
Guess I'll have to wait for the video.
Who is going to shave the hair off the head of Miles Standish at the American Numismatic Association convention Aug. 3 in Denver?
The answer is none other than Rick Harrison, star of “Pawn Stars.”
Standish is giving up his hair for charity, raising money for the ANA and the nonprofit Standish Foundation for Child & Family Centered Healthcare.
Rick Harrison of History’s “Pawn Stars” program and the famous Las Vegas Gold & Silver Pawn shop is to make the first pass of the electric shaver on Miles’ head. Several Denver Broncos cheerleaders are also slated to attend as special guests to cheer on Miles, as well as sign autographs for visitors.
Miles Standish is an award-winning numismatic author and senior grader and vice president of Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
The Austin, Texas-based Standish Foundation was launched in 2010 by his wife, Andrea Mangione Standish, a certified child life specialist. The foundation assists healthcare providers around the world to provide the tools and training they need to minimize healthcare-related pain and suffering in children.

Well since NGC is official grader guess they allow it along with Broncos cheerleader signing autographs
at a coin show ? Guess trying to get general public with last one.
Pawn Stars has long ago jumped the shark.
Why the naysayers? I find this to be an uplifting story.
All trade shows need a hook.
I'm in the woodworking machinery and tooling business.
We just had our trade show in LasVegas and Cliff Clavin(John Ratzenberger) was the keynote speaker on Day 1.
They would have had me if it were just the Denver Broncos cheerleaders....when they got more than that, they lost me....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Back in the 80's, @MrEureka won a $500 bet by shaving one side of his head.
This one has more than a fighting chance to turn out to be bigger and better. Twice as much hair
Back in the late '90's we had a Sales Director who told his people that if they broke the $12 million mark for the month in sales, he would shave his head at the company picnic. They did, he did. His hair never grew back...never found out why...it was thinning anyway...Cheers, RickO
Some people look good with a shaved head...other do not...memories of basic training where everyone's first id card picture looked like "thumbprints". I guess we'll find out.

Is there going to be a special label for coins submitted while his head is being shaved?

Did he have more hair then? Did anyone notice?

I hope they have a licensed barber do the honors, that can be an exacting task! Also oil his head up like a billiard ball with requisite shine afterwards, a DMPL glow! oops, NGC uses DPL.

Altered surface.
Altered hair lines.
Is NGC going to authenticate and grade them.
Every time I'm in my hometown, which is very near where Standish grew up, I'll visit the local shop. The guys are in their 70's now and ritually say that they knew Michael Standish before he became important and was renamed "Miles". They have about 5 go to stories... gem 53-C $5 walked in, finding loads of gold in a deceased co-works house, selling a gem Stella for too little. Same stuff every year.

I'm thinking it's got to be more than twice as much hair.

I'd be okay to shake Rick Harrison's hand and have ten seconds to tell him how much I enjoy the television show, but I don't understand the attraction in this.
Really great coin shows used to have groupies and hookers back when "coins" was the king of hobbies.
What the hell is a "certified child life specialist"??

What the hell kind of excuse for missing ANA is "Cardiac Nuclear Physics"?

Both of you likely agree kids are important.
She'll be there. You won't.
Don't make your problem hers.
Perhaps Miles finds that one of her charms is not discussing progressive die deterioration on S-9
Two predictions:
1) Miles will raise more than double what @MrE got for double the number of sides of his head.
2) For either side of his head, @MrE could not raise half as much now as he could then.
2a) Maybe both.
Colonel, your entertaining obfuscation still did not answer my question.

In which case, my political career is off to an excellent start
why not for a good cause.
I think everyone agrees that being in the hospital is a horrible experience. Sadly children with certain conditions like cancer can be stuck in the hospital for weeks and months at a time. That is quite distressing for the child and their parents. Child life specialists try to make this experience less horrible. They help families get through difficult times, they help them as counselors and they help them as counselors and or psychologists. The child life department also provides entertainment resources to the children and holiday experiences. They have one of the toughest jobs in the hospital as they have to work with families where at times they have a dying child. At a minimum the child is really sick.
