Should reformed posters get their banned user posts back?

Some posters have been on the boards for years, contributing good content, but get banned at some point. Some time later, some come back with an alt so they now have 2 accounts and 2 histories of posts. As a reader of their posts, when looking through old threads, you can run into their old banned user posts, even when they are back. Is there a way to resolve this?

Should banned users that come back with an alt and are reformed be able to get their old posts back? For example, merge their old posts with their new username?

No, that bridge was burned, no going back

I voted no because I like trying to figure out the alt. It can get boring around here

    I agree that's fun.

I was thinking that the posts could only be merged after they've had a track record of being reformed with a history of new posts and have been comfortable enough to out themselves.

If they can link a newer account with a banned account I think both accounts will then be banned.

Here is what I think...... when someone posts stuff like this they should be banned to the regular social media joints, or should get out more. :)

Getting out more would mean running across those old posts less

Not sure I get this. Banned users aren't supposed to return without permission. And alts aren't allowed. (I realize they still happen occasionally.)

Wouldn't admitting you're an alt get you re-banned?

No. Too confusing. And there are certainly more important issues than this.

Some of the fools would stop bumping their 15 year old threads because they need attention, but I still say NO.

It also begs the question should formerly banned member get to vote in a poll about formerly banned members?

Nope. Polls on the OFR are way better.

Yes, having a single profile and posts is a good thing

I voted yes... I would rather keep it clean and eliminate alts.... however, a second banning should be forever. Not sure how to police that on a forum though... Cheers, RickO
