Nice coins. Why the change in the organization of the lots? Seems to wander all over instead of proceeding in the normal copper, nickel, silver, gold, commem order.

From Laura: "they can see why in the catalogs-the lots are listed in some cases by specfic sets-like 1994 NL, and the AW Morgan collection
we had some many monster 1C Lincoln Proofs we decided to put all Matte proofs right after-why make bidders wait?"
Two important WLHs up in this auction:
(1) The single 1939 PF68+. Will this coin be purchased by Forsythe to keep his Hall of Fame proof set at the maximum possible grade point average/set rating? How much will the premium be for a 68+, given the fact that several more 68+ coins will be made in the future (pop for PF68 is over 40 for the date)? We'll see,
(2) The second 1942-S MS67+. The first MS67+ was the single graded MS67 for many years before being plussed. It resides in the Stuppler all time finest short set. I hadn't seen the second example in 67+ until it appeared here. Doesn't do a lot for me, but I'm certain the coin will bring active bidding.
Both auctions will be interesting to watch. Congratulations to LRCA on their success.
Got to give credit where credit is due. Legend first faltered a bit upon initiating a new auction venue years ago. They were staring down gorillas. But they kept at it, and now it is turning into the go to place for premium coins auctioned in the marketplace. Great coins, great platform, great pics ... well done.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.
The A W collection has some real cool toners. Sad to hear the owner passed away and hence the sale of his coins. Always loved the 78-CC toner as part of his collection and of this auction.

Agree. The Legend- Morphy thing didn't work. This is whole new ball of wax. Outstanding. As a consigner and buyer I couldn't be more pleased. Great selection over many different genre's in this one particularly
I also love the hard bound catalogs. Every issue is part of my library.

What does Legend charge for shipping? Could I drive up and pick it up myself to save the fee and meet some of the people behind the scenes/running the show?
I don't ever remember being charged for shipping.

Not sure, I think it varies by value. The last item I purchased cost me $25 to ship but that was because they did USPS overnight shipping. But I couldn't complain because it was shipped promptly after payment.

If someone said to me ten years ago that Legend (Laura) would be getting bids upwards of $4,000-$6K, or more for a 1967 Kennedy half especially after the "Fiasco" , I would have gone to church every week. Now I have to go to confession.
The GEM Matte Proof Lincolns from the 1994 Collection in PR65+ BN to PR66+ BN are too nice to break up. At this point in the sale, we are going to add up the hammer prices of lots 48-56 and add 5%. That sum will represent the opening bid for lot 57. If that bid is met, the hammer prices of lots 48-56 will be canceled and bidding will continue on this lot.
Is this done often at auction, or is it a new concept?
Yes, it is a pretty awesome sale. Many wonderful coins. I love the niche collection approach, makes those lots seems really fresh - they are. The pictures are by far the best I have ever seen. The 1909 Roman finish Proof Saint - awesome. The 1898 Proof Barber Half...I could keep going.....

It's an old concept, and a great one. Used to see it a lot more in the 70's and 80's, though I remember a few times when I've seen it in the previous decade. There are interesting tactical and strategic considerations involved.

It's done in high end sportscard sets vs singles as well. Usually the singles prices add up to more then the set price. Not so sure on this one. I might even bid on it and I don't do do Lincolns but the set is so cool.

Cool, one of the nicer 78cc trade dollars I have seen is up for bid.
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
Nice array of pieces.
Found one error - I don't think this is from 1863! http://legendauctions.hibid.com/lot/32715286/50c-1863-pcgs-pr66/?cpage=4&ref=catalog

Very nice coins but nothing for me.
Does Legend now accept moderns for consignment now? If so, I have a few top pops I might consider consigning in the future.
I'm not sure what the criteria is - if they are nice coins for the grade then probably
That is a lovely, all-natural 78-CC Trade Dollar.
Complete Set of Chopmarked Trade Dollars
Carson City Silver Dollars Complete 1870-1893http://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/showcase.aspx?sc=2722"
I recognize the 62 and 63 $5's from some where.
Latin American Collection
Very, very nice coins... would expect no less.... Cheers, RickO

I truly think this is the best Regency Sale ever
Quite a lot of nice pieces; love the 55-C $2.50 in 65, that's a fantastic type coin for branch mint gold. The 1798 15 Star $1 is also very appealing.
As others have stated, the 78-CC T$ is really a great piece. I wonder who the "major Trade Dollar collector" was who's estate contained this coin?
Nice group of Lincolns.

There are some sweet coins in this one. There is one that I will win, no matter what. Not done looking.

The 1878 $20 PCGS MS64 CAC is really impressive, possibly the finest known.

Is there a buyers fee, and how much? Never mind I learned here it doesn't matter.
Or does it!
Some incredible coins and those bids already!

I like seeing coins of this quality going through a specialty firm instead of the 800 pound gorilla in the business.
I've been tracking several coins in this sale, and internet bids are already very strong. It's good to see.

Omigosh. What eye candy. And the bidding is off at a gallop.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
DMPLs are exceptional .. safe to say those without CACs ,were denied the sticker ?
Yeah and they still have the low low buyers fee of only 17.5%.

Lucky for me I can do the math and bid accordingly

Hammered at $40k, right in the middle of the estimate: 37,500.00 - 42,500.00
