Cool story! I have likewise fascinated and dreamed about a coin for a long while. It is a Proof Peace Dollar. I have never seen or held one in person. I don't foresee myself walking in the SLC airport in my pocket either.... Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing.... the coin's not so important...it's the Horatio Alger story of the poor kid becoming a successful executive and coin dealer, and those opportunities seem to be vanishing in America.
I know Larry but I didn't realize he started from humble beginnings
I know that high dollars coins have been transported in this manor before and after that.
I Remember well the time Larry had the 1913 V5C and the 1804 dollar at the PAN show.

It could have a CAC sticker now since CAC started one year (2007) after this picture was taken. TDN might know the inside story on it if it does carry a CAC bean or not.

Nope - not at that grade. They are all two grades over reality. This one has some scratches on the spot in the left obverse field. Looked to me like someone tried to remove it with a pin
Excellent story! Anyone who has ever had a childhood dream, and then later realized it, can relate to his experience. It just goes to show that what we do in life is often only limited to our imagination of what is possible. Thanks for sharing this TDN!
So, the former CEO of the ANA thought that was a proper, secure way to transport an 1804 Dollar??
Wow.........glad his tenure is over.

That was a cool story.
Wise to walk around with 4 million bucks in your pocket.
I wonder how he handled getting it through security.
Interesting story
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb, Ricko

TDN has extra large pockets, so no problemo.
Neat story TDN.
Except it was not his pocket, unless he changed his name to Larry.
I have told the story before about transporting the eliasberg 1913 liberty head nickel...and thinking it was lost
I only wish I had pockets like that

The other 4 went up in value by half a million bucks until you found it.

This is as close as I got to the King Of Siam 1804 Dollar 11 years ago.

I also enjoyed the story! It brought back similar childhood memories.

No CAC sticker? I guess I'll wait for another one.
