OT - throwing coins into a jet engine before flight

CatbertCatbert Posts: 8,172 ✭✭✭✭✭

I was incredulous after reading this, thinking how stupid can one be:

Given that she is 80 years old, hopefully she didn't throw anything valuable! :D

I was possibly done to "Bless" the flight by someone who had never seen a "big silver bird" before.

I just shook my head, like seeing people throwing change in coinstar machines, only risking the lives of everyone in the store.

Haven't you ever boarded a plane by walking across the tarmac past a wing and climbing a stairway?

Doesn't seem like much "luck" would come from this stupidity.

Perhaps the airline would not let her sacrifice a chicken in the terminal?

Why on earth would you want to do something that could mess up an engine on a plane you will be flying on?
