I was incredulous after reading this, thinking how stupid can one be:

Given that she is 80 years old, hopefully she didn't throw anything valuable!

I was possibly done to "Bless" the flight by someone who had never seen a "big silver bird" before.
Do I see a new slab label in the future.........?????
Also signed by the thrower.....?
Limited edition would force spirited bidding.

I just shook my head, like seeing people throwing change in coinstar machines, only risking the lives of everyone in the store.
How did she even get access to the plane's engine?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
On long road trips, I usually put sugar in my gas tank for luck.
Haven't you ever boarded a plane by walking across the tarmac past a wing and climbing a stairway?
she should have taken an older plane, then she could safely taped the coins to a propeller
Not since the 1950's.

I wonder what those coins look like now.

You need to fly to more interesting places that have smaller airports!
Depends on whether the Yuan hit the fan!
I can remember climbing the stairs to board in the 1970's.
Doesn't seem like much "luck" would come from this stupidity.
Perhaps the airline would not let her sacrifice a chicken in the terminal?
Eastern Shuttle DC-NY in the 1980's...out the tail ramp. Fort Lauderdale airport same time period. Dad parked in the grass at front door of the terminal to pick me up. Love field -Texas.
You can't fix stupid,,,,,
There are still many flights that are boarded on the tarmac.... have done that several times in the last year...However, I did not throw any coins into the engine.. Cheers, RickO
Are you sure ricko? I know you dispatch any toned coins in some manner.
stupid is as stupid does
Keep an open mind, or get financially repressed -Zoltan Pozsar
Why on earth would you want to do something that could mess up an engine on a plane you will be flying on?
Sounds really stupid to me.
