I can remember climbing the stairs to board in the 1970's.

Eastern Shuttle DC-NY in the 1980's...out the tail ramp. Fort Lauderdale airport same time period. Dad parked in the grass at front door of the terminal to pick me up. Love field -Texas.

There are still many flights that are boarded on the tarmac.... have done that several times in the last year...However, I did not throw any coins into the engine..
