When I was putting together a date and major type set of early dollars, I tried to keep the grades up to no lower than EF-40. But when I saw this 1798 Small Eagle Dollar in VF-35, it worked for me.
Here is the 1798 Heraldic Eagle Dollar in my set. This is a scarce variety, and this coin was the plate coin in David Bowers original two volume study on silver dollars. It disappeared in his new book. The obverse die failed early on this one which limited the number pieces that were struck with it.

I always loved the placement of the lion on his shoulder on this old piece.
This one is now in a 35 slab.
