Old Dollar Picture Post (Please Post Yours!)

I was pulling out an odd quarter for another thread and visited some "old friends" I haven't seen in awhile. I thought it would be fun to kind of 'show off' these old coins within their own dedicated thread.
Here's one of my favorites!

I swear, I never noticed it really until you pointed it out. Probably kind of common with the minting process back then.

That's a seriously nice coin!

Here's another:
I know it's got its problems, but I like it anyway.

That's a good looking plug. I would have not noticed it if the slab and you would have not noted it.
I didn't like the die crack so I sold it. I'm not happy I did.
So, I am a bit stumped - in terms of a clock - where is the plug?
Damn straight! That's a mighty fine looking dollar^
Thanks for sharing.
Regarding the plug on the above 1795? I cracked it from a no problem NGC slab for inclusion in a type set. A few years later I sent it into PCGS where it now resides in its problem slab. Still like it though although I obviously took a hit on price.

Beautiful early Dollars.
One day I too will own one.

I cracked this old gal out 5 or 6 years ago and gave her a long acetone dip cause I thought the coin had a film.

It has been in deep storage in an old envelope since. These were pics taken before and I have no idea what it
looks like now. Sometime soon I'll dig her out of the SB and see how she looks.
Many of the bust dollars went through a lot.
Some very nice dollars here..... @HoledandCreative...Probably some interesting theories on how/why that coin has been cut up.... Cheers, RickO
The coin is cut because it was likely used as 3/4 of a dollar, like the old spanish reale system.

I bought this years ago just because I wanted an 18th century coin. I still like it enough but I'd prefer a small eagle year.

Great thread!

@basetsb...that was my thought.... though I had not read of that happening as much on U.S. dollars ...Cheers, RickO

i could learn to like this real quick
Here's a very old 1798 B-19, BB-BB-106 Dollar "turned into a pin wheel." It appears to have been attached to some type of a sewing machine at one time. The pin cushion is on the reverse in black velvet.

Here's a rare 1796 B-6, BB-64 silver dollar, R-8 with three examples known to me, all in this late die state with the vertical die crack bisecting the right 1/3 of the reverse. It is the finest of the three known examples.
This Specimen is ex. Emanuel Taylor Collection, and was purchased from Taylor in 1959 by dealer Art Kagin. It was offered for sale by Art and Paul Kagin in a 1959 Fixed Price List but it likely was never sold. John Whitney "Mr. 1796" purchased it at a B&M public auction in September 1995 (per my research).
Stack's sold the Whitney Collection including this coin in May 1999:1249 where it was purchased by collector Warren Miller. This coin was sold privately in October 2015 and today resides in an advanced Northeast die variety collection.
It is one of my favorite early dollars.

@BillDugan1959
The plug looks like it is a small one above the 9 in the date. You can see it on the reverse too above the eagle and between "states" and "of".
Very many thanks for the pointers. I could kinda see the modest discoloration on the reverse, but couldn't match that to the obverse. Very many thanks.

Here's a pretty BB-159 I shot for a customer several years ago. NGC AU55.

Usually when you see a dollar display like Boiler's, it's in a PCGS calendar.
My "logo" on the Forum, and one of the favorite coins in my collection. Very rare die marriage, only Mint State example known, only example known with the cud under the first star towards the date, great color and eye appeal. It took me three tries to finally win this lot at auction.
