New 1911 Indian Eagle to Share

msch1manmsch1man Posts: 809 ✭✭✭✭

I recently picked up this 1911 Indian Eagle in a Great Collections auction. It's in a PCGS AU-58 holder and is pedigreed to the Benson collection. It's got really nice color and mark free fields for a relatively large gold coin. I've always thought the Indian Eagle design is one of the prettiest coins out there. I probably prefer the No Motto version just slightly, but couldn't pass this one up and am very pleased with it in hand. Here are some old photos from a Goldberg auction. Just wanted to share - comments/feedback both good and bad welcomed.

Also, this is the first item I've purchased through Great Collections and can totally see why I read all the positive feedback about them here...I had special shipping instructions that they responded to within 24 hours and followed through on perfectly...A+.

It looks accurately graded and attractive. I have always liked this design by ASG more than the double eagle, though I know that is blasphemy to many folks.

It's a beautiful design, which I do not feel is diminished much by slight circulation friction. These coins seem like a good value buy in mark-free, attractive AU58.

It looks to be a nice coin with original surfaces. I might have called it an AU-55, but the super smooth fields might give the coin a bit of a push.
