Wow... I am not sure that question has an answer... Only those collections that are known to contain specific coins can be evaluated... and even those may have coins that are not publicly known... not to mention those privately held collections that do not get publicized. So many parameters to consider. Cheers, RickO

Well, counting my fifteen 1913 Liberty nickels and my original Unc roll of 1933 double eagles, I'd say mine is in contention.

    Cheers

perhaps it is an unknown collector in Japan, but absent any "insider" knowledge I would defer to TDN.

Everyone who treasure their collection and share this moment with family and friends.
A million dollar coin from another collector means nothing to my daughter's favorite coin.

I was here in the mid 1980s and saw few if any coins. I spent three weekends going through it. The Brits tried to loot the U.S. but it did not shake out quite like they planned. I doubt they have a large early U.S. collection but it could have been put away.

The question at the time I wrote an answer was... Who owns the most valuable coin collection today?

I suspect that the coin collection that British Museum has is likely quite compelling at the World level.

If we are taking individual I would think Simpson although he seems to have been weeding lately and privatecoincollector has been scorching the earth.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

It does seem that way...but he has the most elaborate set of patterns currently...problem is it is impossible to value...

If your mind runs this way, don't forget that Miss Eva Adams presented LBJ with four 1000 coin bags of 1964-D Peace Dollars soon after they were struck.

A more interesting question might be "Who has the most important collection today?"
