Grade opinions on this Mercury Dime please.

I would like to get this coin into a PCGS holder and can't decide which to do. Send in raw or send in as a crossover. I think it is better than a 64, but also don't want to have it get a 63. I think it is a solid 65 shot 66, but you know what they say about ownership. The lines on the reverse are on the holder. What do you think it will grade. Thanks for any input. I can see it in a 65 holder!
Send it in with a Minimum grade of...oh you can't request a higher grade than it is presently in...looks good to me as a 65.

Looks like a 65 or better to me. I would send it in raw to eliminate bias.
Send it in raw, it should get a 65 and a good chance of 66 in my opinion. I don't see an over MM but that is just me. I'd also pay $10 for a truview on that coin!

I agree with sending in raw. I like the look but imo 5 max with that strike. I'm not seeing the OMM either.

Aren't you a dime expert? You really think that people looking at pictures can grade your coin better than you with the coin in hand?

Yes, I know Dimes. I was just wanting other peoples opinions. Looks like most agree with me.
I'll reach out there and say 65+ as it sure is well stuck and lovely to the eye.

I am not a Mercury Dime expert, but here goes. The coin is nicely preserved with original toning. I am assuming that white lines I see on the reverse are scratches on the holder.
On the down side the strike on the reverse looks weaker than normal, although that might be a characteristic of this variety. The obverse shows some weakness in the corresponding area. For that reason I think that MS-64 is an accurate grade for this piece, but the current standards might lift it to nirvana.

Crack and submit. I would wager all day in vegas with a sure bet like that at a 65.
I'd crack it. If they 63 that, shame on the finalizer.

I'd say that is a 66 shot 65 from the grades I've been getting lately.
I believe that is a 65.... Certainly the worst you could do is a cross at 64. I 'think' I see a trace of the over mm...in the gap at top and bottom of the S.... Good luck, let us know. Cheers, RickO
The only issues I see are a few specs on the cheek, eye area and reverse field. I think it gets an MS 65 designation minimum. I'd crack it if you want it in PCGS plastic. It's still not very cost effective however.

I like it and think it has awesome eye appeal.
Can't speak to the grade but can't see it being as low as 63 and if you need it in a PCGS holder then what choice do you have?

I think it will 64 before it will 63 or 65. But TBH, the color looks suspect to me. I've made Mercs look like that experimenting with matches (eg. sulfur), vinegar, and a host of other things to learn AT vs NT. That color spectrum on a Merc is not something that works for me, unless the color in your images are way off...
I'd say 65 shot at 66.

Seems like the MM varietization is more important than the grade. Isn't this more expensive than straight grading? If the MM is the distinguishing feature, rather than grade, then it seems crossover including variety is the way to go.
