How many times have you cracked out an NGC graded coin, sent it to PCGS, and have it body bagged?

How many times have you cracked out an NGC graded coin, sent it to PCGS, and have it body bagged? This just happened to me to my absolute shock (94 altered surfaces). I do not play the crack out game but this once I did!! Ouch!!

I chose the "Never, not once" option.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
I did once, but probably deserved it.

I also voted "never, not once" since I have not yet played the crackout game.
I plan to try it late this year. Fingers crossed.
I have done this maybe for 50 coins, not one went ungraded, some higher grade, some lower, most, the same, but no details, no BB, no cleaned, etc.
Best, SH
I have had surprising results. A major local dealer was upset with a previously graded coin that he was hoping for an upgrade, NGC details graded it and PCGS straighted it. NGC can be crazy on the "cleaned" stigma.
I voted never. But I do have 2 PCGS graded coins in my sets that were cracked out of NGC details graded holders.
Had the opposite. Saw what I thought was a nice original coin in an NGC details , cleaned holder, cracked it , and it came back straight from pcgs. But....... That's what I expected !!!
It just goes to show, holders or not , at the end of the day . Your still buying the coin!
I've cracked them out a few times. They usually grade similar. Some upgrade, some downgrade, usually they fetch the same grade. Never had a details grade or bodybag though.

A few times. but mostly for a customer who thought a toned coin or two would upgrade. He told me to crack them out so I did. Unfortunately the color was questionable here, but not ATS. I suspect a few tries more could change that, but... it's not worth it on a $200 coin in my humblest opinion. Though, like him; I would have preferred the PCGS brand. ( our attempts sometimes seem silly)

Cracked out a foreign gold coin from a NGC holder, sent it to PCGS, came back not genuine.

@meltdown Nope Large cent...
Had the opposite - Cracked a NGC "cleaned" proof - came back from PCGS PR 62....
WS
I have had it happen on 3 different coins; although 2 of those have now ended up straight graded in PCGS plastic. The 2 coins that ended up straight graded were both toned IHC's.

I voted "never" but now that I think about it I should have answered "once". Ten or twelve years ago PCGS bodybagged an early red Lincoln that I cracked out of a straight-graded NGC slab. Called it questionable color.
I didn't know better and sold it. I should have submitted it again. I thought the color was authentic.
Lance.
Sort of... I cracked a 1914 D Lincoln Cent from an ANACS F15 holder and got it into PCGS F12 holder.

I voted never, not once although I did have a coin body bagged by NGC that PCGS graded.
What was wrong with NGC? I have no idea. Perhaps it was a trainee who was doing the grading. If so perhaps he or she needed a seeing eye dog and/or a new line of work.
It was an 1839-O half dollar that PCGS graded AU-58 that had been dipped, but certainly not cleaned.
Once, on crossover, but I always check "do not holder genuine," so no big deal.
Just had it happen to me for the first time. It was in a "Old Fatty" holder too. No bueno
I normally don't play the crackout game, but I have crossed over a few and normally came back a grade or more less than NGC had it as...but I liked the coin enough to take that risk.

Heck, I've cracked an NGC straight grade and had NGC body bag it. Lol.
Never not once
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I've had it go both ways. Probably about even.
One time I cracked out a PCGS MS64 $10 Lib that was out of a major auction....it then went to NGC and got BB'd for altered surfaces. It then went to PCGS and got BB'd again for A.S. It then went back to NGC and got a MS66.
I love my older NGC,PCGS,PCI and ANACS holders, why the heck would I crack them out now?
BTW, I voted never.
I have had the opposite as well. I bought a Trade Dollar in an NGC AU details cleaned holder last year..cracked it and sent to PCGS. It's now a PF58!
My experience with NGC AU Barber I/2's is more than not come down a notch...IE NGC AU55 becomes a PCGS AU53. I have crossed a couple of 58's at grade! Lately it seems NGC has been undergrading VG-VF Barber Half's and I'm loving it as a buyer!
I voted never.... I am happy with the coins I buy and since I do not sell have no need to cross coins... Cheers, RickO
Once for me. Large cent, questionable surfaces I think is what was noted. 10 years ago and it's still in the body bag.
no, but i had a pcgs coin that did that and i took a huge bath. thanks pcgs!
