1838 $10 NEWP

The 1838 $10 is a first year issue for the Liberty design and is a legitimately scarce coin in any grade let alone with original surfaces. The majority of examples are unattractive and have been processed.
I have wanted an example since I began collecting rare gold nearly a decade ago, inspired by @RYK s outstanding EF example.

i like that issue. nice!
I have always been drawn to $5 and $10 Liberty's. One of these days I might take the plunge if my budget will allow!
Nice one, BB.

Very cool coin. Stands on its own.
...what man wouldn't
What is the pedigree?
Always liked 38's.....congrats......
That is really special, I always thought about doing the short set from 38-40 with both 39 types but it is a lot of money for a side project. That and I have never seen a decent 39 type of 40 for sale in any grade, only a chewed up example or two for top dollar.
11.5$ Southern Dollars, The little “Big Easy” set
Nice!
Always great to see early gold that is all there and gorgeous, first year of issue to boot, thumbs up!
Best, SH
Nice no problem, no better than XF but I often prefer undamaged original circulated coins like this to pampered and coddled BUs.
One of the nice pieces around of the few available.
Beautiful coin! Please enter me in the giveaway!
Well done.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Good job, well done!
A cool coin backed up with some cool history.

I've always thought this first head type was a distinct variety that deserved more attention.
It has always bin difficult to locate in high grade (there is a beauty that I believe is concidered a Specimen but can't find an image) and Usually look so beat up with very heavy gouges that it's no surprise to see a sticker on your coin. Can't forget the original surfaces.
While mine has fewer than normal marks it has been dipped but it's one of those coins that don't come up that often so I settled.
Great coin
Very nice old gold.... Congratulations on such a fine piece.... Cheers, RickO
