I agree with you. Is Rick even looking at the same coin? Here is an excerpt from his description:

"Flawless-to-the-naked-eye with zero haze, zero spots and practically ZERO bag marks! This Eisenhower screams eye-appeal with its pristine gem looks!"

Im gonna bet thats a canned description he uses on all Ikes. How many silver MS Ikes have haze. Usually thats an issue for proof coins.

Except, the coin in the listing isn't a proof.

Exactly why I said it was a canned description. Its doesnt match for a MS coin -- haze ?

He knows his moderns, cameos, dcam's, and so forth. He loses a lot of credibility with his coin show however. The other night he was offering 1899, 1900 1907 and 1908 ms 65 RD indian cents for the 'bargain' price of $850, 900, when they sell for 525, 550 at auction.

Meh. I've seen some of his overpriced stuff and it's a bit irritating. For example:

There is absolutely NOTHING special about the coin in the link below except for two things: The Price and the sellers name. Other than that, the coin was very lucky to get an MS67 with those two deep gouges in front of IKEs eyes and below his jowls. The reverse is kinda honked up as well with a serious scrape on the rim at 12:00. At best, an average strike.

    ebay.com/itm/1971-S-SILVER-EISENHOWER-PCGS-MS-67-BLINDINGLY-WHITE-RARE-/252880274884

Yet, it's price about $365 more than price guide and about $400 more than it would actually be.

Yes, he has some nice coins but he also has some not so nice stuff at some fairly steep if not plain silly prices.
Oh yeah, he's got some books.

In the sake of fairness, I need to add that "I" would NEVER pay the prices that he asks for his coins since the "premiums" on those prices will NEVER be recovered unless he guarantee's to buy back his merchandise at the exact same value.

Hello! My name is Jackie French. The 1971-S pictured deserves an apology. It's a beautiful, nearly mark-free, problem-free lustrous blazer and the picture has it looking like it was buried in a swamp for 10 years! I should never have posted it. I have been working for Rick for the past 18 years and handle ebay listings and my husband James does the photography. I review all of the ebay listings once they are up to make sure the listings are listed correctly and had not reviewed this new listing. Rick reviews the listings of the rarer examples we have up for auction and had not seen this listing as well. This 1971-S is stunning in hand and the poor photography makes this example look like a dud. This example is far from that offering one of the cleanest cheeks I have seen on this issue bordering on MS 68 quality. This is a spot-free example and should have never made it up on ebay appearing like it has a huge spot in the middle of his cheek. I am human, I do make mistakes and I apologize to the whole ebay community for the error on this listing. If you have any questions on any of my ebay listings please feel free to contact me directly at: jackie@ricoins.com

    Hello Jackie!

From what I've determined, the coin in the listing was one of a couple 1971-S IKE's that were being sold and this particular one represents pretty much a stock photo. There "were" multiple listings showing the same photo which I failed to mention. Either tht or ebay was messing with me. Again.

However, clean cheek or not, the coin was overpriced and in factual reality, if it were so close to being an MS68, then PCGS would have dropped the MS67+ grade on it which would have significantly increased its value over and above the price being asked. Despite the photographic technique being used, those hits in front of the eye and on the jowl could not be missed if one were to seriously look at the photo with something other than a passing glance.

No doubt, it's a nice looking coin but an experienced IKE Buyer, one willing to shuck out big bucks for an IKE, would pass this one over.

Again, all that I am saying is that buyers at this cost level should be very careful at what is being purchased since, regardless of what price is being asked, the coin is what matters most.

Now, did keets buy that quarter?

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I have sold several coins to Rick Tomaska, but would never buy.
    Don't be the sucker.

We could probably fill up this board with stories of someone charging too much and someone paying too much. Why call them suckers even if we feel they are. I feel it is up to us to do our research and determine what is too much for something. Information is readily available with the internet. A person can pay too much for real estate, cars, trucks, jewelry, a steak dinner and all kinds of things. I don's see the need to call one particular person out for getting the most they can get for something. But if someone is grossly using clear cut lies, well that does cross the line. In my view that is the only factor but a person needs to tell the difference between a lie and an opinion. Sometimes that is tough.

Gold and silver are valuable but wisdom is priceless.

Maybe Jackie can ask her husband why all his cameo proof photos so greatly exaggerate the degree of contrast.

Oh! and BTW Jackie, don't worry! We know who you are. We have not forgotten how you used to schill-bid many of Rick's auctions years ago under the ebay handle of "Jackiefrenchfries"!

    Real class-act.
