I won an auction on 4/16 and delivery date was 4/22 and it hasn't even been marked as sent yet. I know this is not a long time, but I have always got things lightening fast. He/She has a 10320 count with an orange star and 100% positive feedback. I have sent several messages with no response and even called and left a message with no response.

It's not a big item....I just want it.

No...have not dealt with the seller but I have had the same issues before...but in the long run all turned out good. I understand your worry...give it time. Time stands still when a coin you want is in the mail.

not all sellers use tracking. it could very well be on its way.

Even if tracking wasn't used wouldn't it still show as shipped in the Purchased list...if it had been mailed in any form??

Only if the seller printed his label from ebay or paypal (automatic indication of "shipped") or he manually entered "shipped" at the ebay or paypal sites after purchasing postage at the counter.

@DIMEMAN - I believe they would have to do that manually by checking the icon that says mark item as shipped.

So it could be shipped, but not marked as shipped?

Yes, for instance if they didn't create the shipping label through Ebay/Paypal and say they did it through a personal USPS acct. or slapped a stamp on an envelope they would have to go into their Ebay act. and mark it as shipped.

correct. Also note that when you do have a tracking number you often get better updates at the usps.com site where it will also indicate method of shipment and if a signature will be required.

Yes. I received an ebay package last week that was never marked as shipped.

That being said, after a certain point (maybe another week or so), you probably want to open a case about item not received. If your messages didn't reach the seller, the ebay case will get their attention.

Did they say in the original listing how many business days for handling? Some people take 3-4 business days to ship the item. Then it's another 2-5 business days for USPS to do their thing.

All it said in the auction that I would receive coin by 4/22. I have won many coins this year and all have been on time.....most of them a day or 2 early.

I don't think so but I would give it another day. I have some basic orders from the 23rd and still in paid status not shipped. Hope not a scammer. :(

This is just an estimate based on how long the seller said it usually takes them to ship. Does not always arrive by then. With that said, the no communication is odd. The seller might have had an emergency, etc. I would give it a few more days, then file a not received claim.

All the times are generated by eBay not the seller.

Not exactly true. The seller states how many days it takes them to ship, and how they are shipping, then ebay takes that data and comes up with the estimated time.

I got a call back a few minutes ago from the dealers' wife. He is dying of cancer and she is trying to catch up. I'm just sick worrying about a coin and he is so sick. Of course I didn't know and told her not to worry about it. Really sad. :(

As stated above ebay determines estimated date of delivery. Their algorithm uses the sellers handling time and method of shipping stated in the listing. Unfortunately they do not offer "registered" as one for a seller to choose and I have to explain to a lot of buyers why their high value registered shipment was not there in three days.

    Estimated delivery date

The estimated delivery date is based on the seller's handling time, the shipping service selected, and when the seller receives cleared payment. In certain cases, the estimated delivery date will vary. By knowing the estimated delivery date, you can determine how long it will take to receive your item.

Many ebay sellers, probably the smaller ones, don't do a lot of internet.

I bought a Type B Washington from him (Bill Dorval) back in "ought 11" with no problems.

I used to peruse his listing in a regular basis and am really sorry to hear of his illness.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

That's sad. Hope it ends up ok for all involved. Years ago I was given the "heart attack" excuse from a Florida dealer's office as to why they weren't getting around to my refund check. It ended badly after a couple months when they just disappeared. Ever since then, I think twice about whatever health excuse/reason is offered up to me.

Wait, so you disagree with my statement, then basically say the exact same thing using different words? I don't follow.

What I was saying is the seller at no time states a exact date. EBay does.

A friend had ordered a certified full steps Jeff. nickel and was not hearing from the guy for many days. Finally he got a response:
"new message from: pcgsms70 (15Yellow Star)
Peter, Thanks for your patience. I will get this packed today and shipped tomorrow. I just returned home on Monday from the hospital. I had a stroke a few days before that. Thanks to modern day medicine, I was able to recognize the symptoms and my wife got to the hospital ASAP. They were able to reverse it with some kind of medication. I was in ICU for the time that I was there. I went in not able to move my right leg and arm. By the Grace of God I am starting to feel much better. Again, I do apologize. God Bless. Ray"
