The ne plus ultra of type sets. Really beautiful, old-time toning on some of the imaged coins, and some neat provenances too.
    Congratulations!

Okay, I've got all six chambers loaded. If I miss my head, I can keep trying.

    Man, those are terrific.
I'm wondering now if MY type set would be rejected by Coinstar. :o

Very nice set. Some of the bust and seated coins I've seen before in other top type sets. There aren't a lot of them to go around.

Fwiw, the 1853 NA 25c is ex-Amon Carter (Stacks Jan 1984 lot 118) and was also in the Auction '86 Apostrophe sale (lot 1613) where 2 superb gem toners on this scarce date were offered in the same Paramount section back to back. Since appearing in 1984 it's always been one of the finest, early no motto quarters out there.

This collection is simply amazing! As a collector who has been working on this exact set composition for over 40 years

(in much, much (much) more humble grades, of course) I just have to say, wow, what an eye for coins with, and I hesitate to use this word but will go ahead and do it, Plausible surface quality and color. And I use that word in highest regard, because (and I've only skimmed the set, I will spend a lot of time looking at these pictures) almost all of these coins (and the provenance helps here) are truly original and not, again I hesitate to say it, but will: Many very nice and high-grade coins out there look original, but quite probably, are not. There are subtle clues to "help", and I see very very few of these in your set.

    Well done sir.

    Question:

While complete, do you also consider them "done", or do you expect the occasional .. change (if not outright upgrade)?

Amazing set. I collect early quarter eagles and you have what could be easily argued as the best of the each type. I would have liked the 1821 quarter eagle out of the Pogue collection. Simply amazing. Truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing.

  • JRoccoJRocco Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Just amazing.
Words can hardly describe that set.

I would put your 1795 $10 Small Eagle as one of the most beautiful coins imaginable.
The reverse with it's luster just sings to you.

Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Just trying to make a type set with any low grade coin is hard enough for some of these rarities... but my god this set is incredible.

Successful transactions with: wondercoin, Tetromibi, PerryHall, PlatinumDuck, JohnMaben/Pegasus Coin & Jewelry, CoinFlip, and coinlieutenant.

I would consider it mainly finished, maybe there can be 3 to 5 upgrades over the next few years. e.g. I would consider to upgrade the HR Double Eagle from 66 to 68 when one is for sale.
