I....MAY....be about to DOWNGRADE a coin.

Sometimes I use Les Toulouse as my numismatic consultant.
I have downgraded before for something I like BETTER than the "better" coin.
I have something on order that will be here tomorrow and I....THINK.... I will like it better than the (numerically better) coin I now have.
I....MAY.. post it if I don't consider myself a damn fool for doing it.

We'll need images of both coins, naturally.
Good luck!
Lance.
The numerical grade isn't everything. I would much rather have an all-around wholesome 65 than a dipped out and dull 66. The saying is beaten like a dead horse but it's all about the coin not the holder.
If the coin is better; I'd downgrade for sure. Sell the higher graded inferior one. Pay for the newer 'lower' graded one and then pocket the difference. Winning!!! lol
P.S. I am curious, as to the images just like the rest of us....
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I'll post what I get.
I won't post what I'm returning as it will undoubtedly be for sale again
IF it's the one I return.
And I don't want to cloud a new purchase.
Coin collectors can be funny that way.
But I can after some time passes.
You should go with the coin that you like and makes you happy. It's a hobby after all!
Can't wait to see what you're getting!
Me too.
Now where's that "Name a coin you lose sleep over?" thread?
Eye appeal for me every time.

Nothing wrong with downgrading a coin and there are a variety of reasons for doing it.

That is something I would certainly consider.... it is all about the coin...and since I do not sell coins, I can have the one's I like... Cheers, RickO

Sometimes the "lower grade" coin is far more desirable and valuable than the higher graded one.
Agree and looking forward to pics.
I was just gonna say the same thing. I've done it a number of times myself-usually to improve the die state on a doubled die or for nice color on any coin.
Said differently, downgrading doesn't necessarily mean less quality

Why the need to warn us?
Closure.
Okay, it got here. All crusty and VERY securely packed.

Very original looking coin. Beautiful!
No shame in downgrading to a better coin

Can I steal those pix?
What a difference.

Lance.
I saw that in the PCGS album history.
So I'll steal it from them.
This is between you and me so don't nobody else go rattin' me out.
I would be proud to "downgrade" to that coin. Very nice!
Tom
Congrats to you

Wow! A dream coin for me. With these, I'd go for eye appeal and originality over grade 8 days a week. Congrats.
Thank you all for justifying my decision to replace a MINT STATE coin with a .....CIRC.
Even though it flies in the face of accepted numismatic ..... "wisdom."
