This happened at the Central States show a few years ago, very weird situation because hardly anyone left the floor.

Years ago went to a coin show in Dallas. Bought a high grade Morgan Dollar. At a table, one dealer, ask if he could see the coin which was then in a flip. Next thing I heard was, "Oh, oh" and then the unmistakable sound of ringing of a coin hitting the floor. I couldn't believe it and just stared at him. Smiling, he held up my Morgan and picked up a large washer that he had dropped and had been doing that all day long, fooling other people. He thought it was so funny, almost ruined my day.

Witnessed this at Baltimore 2 weeks ago. Behind a table, someone (presumably the dealer) in a sitting position, decided to pick up a double row box of slabs. Either the box collapsed at a corner seam, or it was picked up awkwardly. Everyone in the vicinity just froze or sat silently watching, waiting for the curse.

the coin hitting the floor and the "free food" announcement, I like those answers! In the latter case, the "too tired to walk" dealer/collector suddenly feels energized.

Yep. The high pitched ring of a silver dime rolling across the cold, hard concrete. Beats a gunshot any day. Even beats out some guy saying "Wow! That's cheap!"

I remember that. The alarm went off. People looked around to determine there was no fire between them and the nearest exit, no smell of smoke anywhere, and decided it was probably prudent to just stay at their tables.

Who at a show has pump shotgun or shotguns? The only time I've ever seen it was when the RCM 100 kilo gold coin was on display at CSNS in Milwaukee.

I don't know but it would certainly get everyone's attention. lol

I was mostly kidding.....I hope that I never hear it at a show....whether it originates from a dealer, law enforcement or any other source.

That's a real advantage in having a pump shotgun for home defense. Just the sound of cycling the action is enough to get most would be burglars to back off.
