That is slow but it happens from time to time. On the "flip side" ,I mailed a coin Sat.from the east coast and it's going to be delivered Monday at HONOLULU, HI 96822.....
I'm in socal so my outgoing mail typically follows the same route. I never have an issue at the LA facility with normal priority. However, on occasion registered packages can get stuck there for a week or so but they typically move out in a day or three.
I'm assuming this is a registered package?
I had a package shipped from Connecticut to Calif. that has stopped in Springfield Missouri and stayed there 3 days. It's been over a week now and I have no idea where it is . All it says is "In transit." Not at all happy about that!!
I do believe the USPS has a HUGE glitch in their system! A lot a crazy stuff happening just recently with the postal service! Anyone else having problems?
That's nothing. I mailed a certified letter w/signature guarantee, a distance of less than 50 miles at the end of January. The recipient had the letter 3 days later. As of yesterday the usps site still says it is waiting to be picked up.
I mailed a package about 1000 miles. The day the usps said it was "out for delivery", it was delivered back to me. I took the package back to the post office, the postmaster said "someone took your tiny return label as the "send to" address". Huh?? My labels are now even smaller.
They have admitted to me numerous times that the info on the site is "an estimate" of where it should be in the system. They don't really know.
If you want to know where it really is, use ups.
My last purchase (at least according to tracking) went Southern Cal, Sacramento, Reno, back to Sacramento, back to reno, (YES it's true) back to Sacramento, back to Reno, my mailbox.
I've had several packages picked up from my mailbox in Central Iowa get delivered to Honolulu or its environs in 2 days.
It looks like a registered mail package that is getting scanned at EVERY stop. When registered mail enters the priority rate zone, you often see that delay message because the package isn't bound by priority delivery times.
It seems the farther it needs to go the quicker it gets there. I had one delivered from maryland to portland in 2 days.
The post said the delay is because its registered, and thats all done by hand, no equipment. I think more like if it leaves a zip code and gets delivered to the same zip code, that might be a problem, then let it stay there for 2 more days. Might be another problem.
Oh well, this too shall pass.

Yeah. My registered packages get to New York faster than Portland usually. I think it's might be due to airmail planes to certain destinations fly more often from the LA hub. Going to Portland the flight might be a on a a weekly schedule where as going to New York might be 3-4 times a week. Same with Ohio, that takes a week sitting in the LA hub as well while going to Denver it's usually out in a day or two.
Pic of coin, so coin related topic

Thanks dimeman!

^ I'm going with this. Not a single package I mailed since last Monday has been delivered including Priority. Many missed scans at acceptance and intermediate too. The week prior I mailed a few packages over the weekend and none were scanned leaving the postal station until Tuesday evening.
In December I never received the Heritage auction catalogs for the FUN sale. I figured, "Well maybe I have not spent enough and they have dropped me from the list." About a week after the FUN show all of the FUN auction catalogs appeared in my box, post marked for December. They had sat somewhere in the post office system for a month and had not been delivered. There was the first and only time I have had that with auction catalogs.
Yes, look at the foolishness of my shipment coming from CAC!

I thought the black hole was in San Jose? Are there two now , or did they merge into one?
I hope not.... have a package coming from CA that may well get routed through LA.... Cheers, RickO
au contraire. Of the last 10 or so packages I've sent or received through the USPS, all have been delivered on time or no more than a day later. The tracking may have been a bit odd, but the service was FIRST RATE!
That looks to be pretty typical for a CAC registered package.
Sometimes a bag of mail will have a manifest/scan sheet that contains the tracking numbers for ALL of the packages inside the bag. Once the bag is opened and each package scanned again, it will appear that each package has been scanned twice.
Nope, not even close. In fact a package sent one week later from CAC made it to New York the next day, on the weekend. The one I posted sat in limbo for 9 days, somewhere.
The stops are typical, but the time obviously isn't.
Same message for a package from Memphis, TN to NJ. Delayed 11 days in no man's land. Got to be a nation-wide glitch!
If it's sitting there THAT long, it's likely not a glitch. Best thing to do is get the phone number of the PO where it's at and CALL THEM. I've always found them to be co-operative.
