Should have put up an offer for $3.

Looks 64.
I'd guess its been in there since 1970.
That has been in there a while for sure!
I once bought a nice UNC (later graded 64) 29-S slq that had $30 or so written on the 2x2.
Nice find

The staples never lie. Rust never sleeps.
Wished I still had the one with $1.85 on it, that was a lock 65 coin.
Coin was in an estate I was buying about 12 years ago, the retired part time dealer said they didn't discern between grades of mint state back in the 60's. And if it wasn't Unc, it was $1.
Bought a bunch of nice BU Morgan dollar rolls a couple years back that were put away in the early mid-1970's. The rolls were marked at around $3.25-$3.75 per coin.
That one's seen a few Harvest Moons.
It looks like the holder has seen some moisture, which doesn't look to have affected the coin.
The old red, yellow and blue 2x2's are also a good sign of age.
Be glad the coin didn't get tossed rolling home to you.
I would get her away from those nasty staples...ASAP

Nope. Staying right where it is. What do you think the staples will do anyway?
The corroded staples may want to jump to the pretty silver...my concern anyway...it's your coin...right?

the other side could scratch other coins in your 2x2 box
I wonder if the dealer just bought an old collection from a widow(er) and didn't even have to haggle over their offer?
Silver doesn't rust. Plus it's been in there so long if anything was going to happen it would have already.
I don't ascribe to that mantra. I've never had an issue with staples scratching other coins. But then again I don't toss them around with each other and typically don't store my coins in 2x2s so I don't use long boxes. That said, I'm keeping this one in a large safety flip for storage purposes. Its just cool that's it's been in that 2x2 all this time.
I remember buying these for $3.25 from Elsie Coriel out of Campbell, CA in 1971-1973 timeframe.
I did not state that, however...nevermind.

I have a ton of 2x2's with very outdated prices on them...wish I could have bought them for that much! But when they were those prices I was only making like 10.00 a week as a paperboy...and coins were secondary to trout fishing which required it's own set of expenses.

I always enjoy going through a "new" purchase from dealers I do biz with when I see the rusty staples.
"Market fresh".
How about a pic. of the reverse?
- Jim
I have been told by several dealers never to leave a coin in a holder with an old price on it if I was selling, as many dealers would bottom-fish the pricing.
How about that "toning" in the lower left corner?
Notice the letters B.Q. in the bottom left hand corner. Must have been the early way to describe a coin, Brilliant Quality?
Then it may have changed to B.U. (Brilliant Uncirculated), and later on and P.Q. for Premium Quality.
My eyes are bad but I see "BU"

Sure
Very true. Silver doesn't BUT! It can cause corrosion on the silver. The truth.
Carry on
By the way I find your Morgan extremely attractive my friend. Very nice pick up

Yeah, I can see it too now. At first it sure looked like a Q as the second dot mislead me to believe differently.
How so? Even if true I think time has shown the coin is stable as is. Either way it's only an 81s so the 2x2 is cooler than any possible hijinks occuring from it.
And after reading his post again he could mean that the corroded staples can break then a piece can possibly scratch the coin maybe ??
I can show ya.
That is a really nice coin in a cool, old 2x2......
Cheers, RickO
Thanks ricko. I was wondering if this girl used to be in your collection. Try as she might she's still won't turn. She must still be afraid of you
"I have spoken!!".....
Cheers, RickO
@ricko
I am pretty sure, based upon what little I know. that any coin that anyone has was NEVER in @ricko ;s collection.

@1630Boston ...The only exception to that would be some darkside gold (Britannia set) that I sold some years back...Cheers, RickO
A great example why you shouldn't put fixed prices on items.
Long ago in a rapidly moving market I got tired of repricing and now I post no prices.
When asked I tell customers I use "Attitude pricing".
Nice!
Agree. It's stable in that flip.

Don't let those staples bleed onto the coin. MS67 will become ms66 with rusty blotches.
