What would think about this sign in your local shop?

segojasegoja Posts: 6,141 ✭✭✭✭

My partner thought it would be good if we moved this to the reception area to dissuade would be robbers. Lucky I'm a good shot.

That might do the trick. Although, the balls shot off even a freaking idiot can understand . Great idea :)

    LOL

One coin shop I used to go to had one hung up. All in the 10 ring save for a solid shot on each hand.

coin shop I went to in NH had a similar target. Maybe even post it in the front window!

  • AzurescensAzurescens Posts: 2,783 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Was it in Keene?

Live free or die. A shop up in West Lebanon had a woman with a perpetual gun on her hip.

Too bad they did a dumb thing with the cops, Arthur ended up in jail, and while he was in the slammer his wife's house was targeted in a home invasion.

Nice but it was hit with a full auto burst not a semi auto pistol so does the owner keep a Tommy gun behind the counter :grimace:

At least the new collector knows he won't be robbed while in there. Just by the crusty old angry guy behind the counter.

Not a big fan of guns. Wouldn't find it funny or re-assuring. If you keep that much in a store, hire a security guard.

The owner of the shop I always go to carries a gun on him when he's there and so do I. It's a smart thing to do when you're at a place with millions of dollars in inventory.

While I love coins my passion for firearms is stronger... I'd have no problem with the sign but if I was to come in I'd get sidetracked and start talking guns .... Either way some will like it, some won't ... Will it ever stop a robber from trying? Hopefully you never have to find out!!

well, if you can have your weapon out and ready to shoot while you convince the perp(s) to stand still for a moment it might be a good tactic. even for trained professionals it isn't easy to shoot at a living target that is on the move and firing back at you.

Looks like a good idea to me. I'd find it reassuring as a collector.

I was in a coin show that was robbed one time. A guy in his early 30's came into the shop and asked the shop owner for a coin for his parent's birthday, and the dealer, saying something about "having one in the back of the shop" left the main shop area to go to the back to get it. I was sitting at one of the boxes of coins with my back to them all this time, but suddenly it just seemed really quite, and I turned around to see the guy running out the door with a briefcase under his arm. The coin dealer then came running out the back of the shop, and chased after the guy, who dropped the package in the pursuit. Fortunately no one got hurt, and unfortunately the would-be thief got away.

My wife works in a coin shop and always carries a gun while doing so. We practice regularly and she is skilled in using it.

It isn't there to keep someone from robbing the store. If an armed robbery happens at the store, she will comply, especially if the robber has a gun pointed at her. The gun is there in case the robber wants to take more than just coins. She may not be able to use it, but it gives her at least A chance of saving her own life and possibly others.

No, guards are just monitors and will inform you if there is a robbery.
