No, I keep her appeased by buying her Mint Proof Sets every year when they come out.
I keep telling her "All the silver coins are investment for the kids when they reach 21". At that time, they can decide to sell them or pass down to next generation.
Absolutely yes. Once a year. She gets a number. And I have each coin in my collection clearly marked with my cost and for my inventory, she knows my codes.
a month or so ago , our club president passed away at the age of 54. You never know when it's your time.
I guess less is really more. Although I doubt I could ever get it down to a box of 20.

Apparently his heirs weren't as enamored with his box of 20 for a rainy day. Equally important was that he had fun doing what he loved while he could.
She doesn't pay attention to coins or guns and I don't pay attention to shoes or make up.... I keep a book in the safe in case anything happens to me.

When the time come, if my children understand the value of the collection, I would ask them to pass on to the next generation or sell them only in time of need. If they don't or show no interest, then please donate and give out to everyone who shares this hobby.

In vague terms, yes. I make dang sure to show her big checks when they come in from coin sales. The big checks that go out are somehow overlooked.

I don't even keep myself apprised of a change in value. My collection is in the SDB and in an XLS spreadsheet.
I don't go in and look at value all the time. I know what I still need (upgrade or fill a hole I want to fill) but I don't go back more than once or twice per year and do any updates on value. Really, more like once per 12-18 months.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Really, he does NOT WANT TO KNOW. I mean, he gets that I buy the stuff, and he gets that there is value, but in his bubble world he likes they entertain me but doesn't like to think about the cumulative value. In the beginning I used to try and keep a tally and keep him informed and he asked me to stop doing that. Our finances are sound and that's all he cares about. Shoot, I don't really even know at this point because some of it is a bit esoteric. I'm happier that way too.
She doesn't care when I win. She only cares if I lose but doesn't mind spending the up money.
Only since I was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago... that was a game changer.
I said no in an earlier post myself, but Honestly, this is why so many of the b & m shiester dealers come out like kings, because their heirs (spouses) go in to sell and have no idea. We buy right, but also pay very fair & I cant tell you how many times I have had widows tell me, " oh goodness, I had no idea it was that much"

Bad transactions with : nobody to date
These two are very important. My husband knows to log in here to find my PMs and see who I've been dealing with, plus I have a couple names for him specifically plus he knows about Great Collections, APMEX, and Heritage.
My offspring whom--I have failed miserably in brainwashing into liking coins (and apparently don't even have the collector gene!!)--vaguely know I have 'stuff we don't talk about outside the house' and that they are foolish if they don't do their homework before selling.
I joke that instead of pennies on the dollar they will get dimes on the dollar at a minimum...but more if they put work into it. They roll their eyes at me, but do appear to listen. I also joke that at least I don't 'collect' shoes and purses so at least they get something.
As I get older I might eventually make a spreadsheet for values--or at least color code stickers on holders for selling venues/agents.

Women are interested in what money they can get out of u not your coin hobby. Their priority is what's best for their children.
Ever hear the saying "nice guys finish last." There is a lot of truth in it. Recently on the show "Snapped." a woman who had 4 divorces murdered her 5th husband. He even adopted 2 of her 3 kids......nice guy huh - she wanted leave him go another man feared custody battle hence motive for murder.
