You shouldn 't collect 20th century gold coin unless you know what the heck you're doing.

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Start with 1999 and work backward??? Might take a while but should prove interesting

Generics and even slight better dates can be a tough sell unless in very high grades.

You had better have deep pockets unless you are going to concentrate on the generic dates.
I've tried series collecting, but I get bored if there are too many coins. I have completed the Type I and Type II gold dollars but there are too many Type IIIs for my taste, especially when you have to pony up for dates like 1861-D which have prices that have gone to the moon. The Classic Head $2.50 and $5.00 coins have been an interesting challenge, but I've learned there are some landmines there too. Coins that are supposed to be "common" aren't.

With all these oldbee's starting to show up again, especially ones with deep pockets like the OP, I think its a good sign market is going to begin to heat up again??
You could do a complete set of CWTs. That's like trying to sit in the corner of a round room.
You should try modern commemoratives, just to see how you like the whole "collecting" concept.

Nah, don't bother. That was already done by a guy here several years ago who collected a few premium rare date Saints that set records when auctioned, some or maybe all of which still stand. You couldn't hold a candle to him.
Go for Red copper instead. Although it could turn brown which could leave you with the blues or even the dead rooster blues.

On second thought, 1933 Saints are so yesterday. Start by having Carr make one dated 1934---just for you---and then destroy his dies.
