1856-o Half Dime Rattler NEWP!

Just happened across this piece at a local show and couldn't pass it up! I never seem to see super nice better dates in rattler holders and had to make a few trades to pull it off. But for the date it is super well struck and fantastic luster!!

They don't make them like that anymore. Looks fresh off the dies. Excellent strike for a 56-0 too with a perfect head and stars. Just a tiny field scuff back then would have "doomed" the coin to a 64 grade. Today, that could be a 65 to 66 coin. I've always liked the 56-0 half dimes, dimes, and quarters as being somewhat underrated vs. the other dates of that era in choice/gem condition. You probably have the best surviving slabbed "MS64." And it barely toned at all in 25+ yrs. Well done.
A good example to those who say you'll only find over-graded or unappealing coins in today's rattlers or ogh's. Might be worth pulling the string on this one to see if there are more where this came from.
Beautiful coin!
Very nice Half Dime!

That is some great frost, nice pickup!
Indeed! In fact they don't make them anymore at all.
Lovely coin, great choice!

I agree with ya 100%!! What a beauty!!
That is a very good looking half dime. That's the kind of coin collectors should be looking for these days.
Wow, that's nice.
Like you went back in a time machine and plucked it right off the press.

This coin is an example of why JA will CAC a dipped coin IMO. I am all about originality but the image of this coin suggests it the luster has not been diminished at all by a dipping. It looks to be all there and is definitely keeper. I really do like it a lot. Congrats!

Very nice coin!
Nice strike for a N O minted coin.
Usually, I am not a fan of "white"coins but this one has thick rolling luster and a great strike. Nice.
That one just shimmers.....and it's clean and sharp. Conservative grade in that nice vintage slab, too. Great all the way around. Congrats!

If the dip didn't impair luster and flash CAC will endorse it, in my experience.
This coin has obviously been dipped but I think it's all there and JA would approve.
