Not trying to say you are wrong or infer you did or even would inflate the bidding but if you were the seller on that card you weren't the only one who stands to gain by a high sale price.
Entirely possible, but we'll never know for certain. My statement was based solely on my role as the consignor.
The Clemente PSA 7 was an awesome card and looked like an 8/8.5 in the scans.

Crisser you are a mad man, when you stole that cow and your friends tried make it with the cow I want to party with you cowboy. Me and you together watch out.
Right now Tom Brady singles, especially rookies/refractors/serial numbered, are going for much higher than pre-Super Bowl. 2000 FB Boxes with Brady just about doubled. I would say they are at "bubble" type levels. Even the second tier Pats like James White are selling for a big premium.
How many times have we seen these spikes over the years? I just think the hobby just goes from bubble to bubble.
Brady is still really selling and very strong, however I think you are correct. Boxes and singles have gone down 15-20% post Suoerbowl crazy numbers. We shall see how things sustain moving forward, however he is a pretty safe bet long term.
I never think of my cards as more than just a hobby. I don't "invest", I just buy what appeals to me and if I eventually make a profit on some stuff, cool!!

Bobmoat I am thrilled to see you hit the disagree button on my recent post. Since it is clear the prices are dramatically higher than recent sales that must mean that you don't think the Wrestling All Stars are in a bubble. It is great to see someone with your hobby stature put your stamp of approval on the price moves. It really gives me a ton of confidence. Thanks for your input.
Dr. Peck:
I think you have a fair point but I disliked your post because we're discussing sports cards here, not wrestling.
Wrestling cards more properly belong in a sports card discussion, versus non-sports category. Label it all under the heading of "entertainment," if you will.
Have you given any thought to how many pro athletes are featured?
One of the most iconic football cards is the 1935 National Chicle Bronko Nagurski. He happened to make the transition to wrestling to parley his marketability and athleticism into additional paychecks. He has a wrestling card from the 1955 Parkhurst Wrestling set. So your saying that should be discussed in non sport?
I am not offended in the slightest. It has been going on for nearly seven years. I would imagine one of your prior ID's was one of the people that said they were garbage and had no chance of ever increasing in value. I am perfectly content with how it has played out.
I think it's moot whether wrestling cards qualify as sports cards or not. The fact is, the non-sport area on the boards is a ghost town, trying to discuss anything there largely meets with crickets. I am guilty of posting stuff about non-sports cards in this forum sometimes, simply because I'd like to share it with someone other than myself.

This thread is close to becoming a board itself. As for the wrestling, it doesn't interest me and I know nothing of it, but I have no problem with it in the sports forum.
ESPN covers WWE now. Do you throw your shoes at the TV when they talk about The Undertaker?
It's such a stale argument. There were plenty of threads on the board prior to 2010 when I started posting. The vast majority of people in the 70's and 80's were watching wrestling and if anything some of the cards posted feature some of the greatest athletes of all time.
Mr. Disagree I can't wait to see the first card from your collection you post. Oh that's right you don't post anything and just troll. Nice.
Holy snikies! I would never. Ever. Imagined that's what Wacky Pack cards go for. Congrats Mr. Maul. I often wonder what certain cards are selling for but don't do the leg work to find out. You must have a very high end collection with all the beauties you post. Apparently Hockey is even lower rent than I thought.

Hey, DPeck identified a market segment that's not crashing. Good on him.
Have we really identified any segments that are crashing yet? Everything I collect is still at or just off all time highs and way above where it was 5 years ago. It certainly doesn't feel like a crash anywhere to me.
Comments
This is the strangest thread I've ever known.
I know right, just when it couldn't get any stranger Dpeck placed a cherry on top.
Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.
it's not as strange as Kim Mitchel from Max Webster though.
The Clemente PSA 7 was an awesome card and looked like an 8/8.5 in the scans.
KC
So what does this mean for clct stock?
Collecting: Topps 1952-79, Bowman 1952-55, OPC 1965-71, and Pre-War White Sox cards
I'd prefer a wok. My stir fry recipes are killing it.

Exactly, blue chip.
Just like your broken clock 2009-2011 prediction.

"Sports" implies competition. Not acting. IMHO.
Bobmoat do you know anything about any of the 108 performers that are featured in the Wrestling All Stars?
Well, opinions are like... we all have one!
Dean:
I know that none of the cards in the set are sports cards, which was all that I was saying and is irrefutable

Sorry to get off of the wresting discussion , personally Snuka was my favorite
Bubble on 70's unopened???
Sold 75 Rack with Aaron $1100
Sold 77 Rack with Reggie $750
Bought with buy it now with best offer ignored.
Their sports cards can be discussed here. Cards from their acting careers definitely aren't on topic. Is this controversial?
I'm sorry if this offends you Peck

Maybe it wouldn't be a ghost town if you'd post your non-sports wrestle-acting cards there
Would any want these Large Marge cards for free. They're like huge and don't fit with anything.
Here is a rasslin card just for you Bobmoat.
Stacy Keibler had not only the greatest legs ever in wrestling, but arguably the greatest legs in the history of entertainment.
You would have to think that surely Bobmoat approves of these to be posted too.

I'm not into wrestling but I enjoy seeing the wrestling cards. I think if the moderator had a problem with them being posted here they would say so.
Like sand through the hourglass...
If we're looking for market segments that are not tanking....
By the way, the above is not a premium card. Common card, just a 1-of-1 PSA 10.

It is PC culture amok, as always. Shouldn't I be free to express my opinion? I didn't agree and that's why that button is there.
