Bobmoat you have me in tears sitting here with my comfort pony. My feelings are hurt and I just don't think I can face the day. You didn't call me Dr. My self esteem had taken such a huge jump when you started referring to me by Dr. Peck. For once in my life I felt like a success. Those false dreams are shattered. I really hope I have enough tissues left in the box because the tears are flowing.
I haven't read the whole thread. But is 80's unopened football also gonna crash and burn? Would love to pick up some more of that for pennies on the dollar

The Crisser tried to tell you last year that the bubble was about to pop. He called if with the unopened market, and he called it with the RC market.
So what's next? The coming decline in prices of raw, mainly sets, that saw an increase the last 2 years due to the RC explosion. Dealers and collectors asking stupid money for Ex garbage and ridiculous money for anything higher grade. That will happen this year to some degree; if the economy declines it'll be a sellers market and the best chance to buy collections since 2009-11. Can't wait!
I haven’t seen any dooms day predictions for ultra high end. Rich people are getting richer and cards like that are going to perform for the foreseeable future.

Lot of dooms day predictions of late for vintage cards and the 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 9 went for $396,000 in the Heritage auction.
Apparently there are still some idiots who buy graded cards.
I wish the Crisser would stick to rolling up into Hooters' with his bros and harassing the help
instead of trying to make predictions, which he is terrible at doing.

I would now hope that all of the posters that know their stuff when it comes to the 1952 / 1953 Mantle's would return and give us a play-by-play on how things have progressed economy-wise with some of the predictions that were made. Note -- No sign of Criss for 2 years?

He comes strolling in from Hooters alot. I saw him here yesterday or the day before, tanned and relaxed, with a string of ladies on his arm.
I don't think it's wise to completely dismiss Criss's words. We are at the 10-year mark in one of the longest running bull markets in US history. It's been reasonable to believe at anytime in the last 4 years that eventually we would be winding down. Alternative assets like collectibles will be somewhat correlated to what goes on in the broader market. I certainly won't pretend to know when that will happen, but I think it's reasonable to believe that we see a dip at some point. It will be more interesting (IMO) to see what pockets of the hobby will be more protected and which will suffer the most.
There is some truth to Crisser's words (circa 2013 BTW) but to run around thinking the bottom is falling out to something I do because I enjoy it makes me want to bang my head......
.....and on that note, I gave you Quiet Riot.....hope you all enjoyed!

well played. no, unfortunately not; just a family name from a long history of ditch-diggers
I think he feels easy like Sunday morning.

guess you are still waiting...
da crisser isn't exactly synonymous with divine omniscience
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
I predict that 95% of the people in this forum will no longer be collecting in 50 years.
Challenge accepted! I'll be 93. Bring it, sonny.
Andy
I'll be 99 and still hunting for the last couple 62 Jell-O cards I need to finish my set. Refusing to die until I find them.

And I got outbid on everything in the Heritage auction last night. There were multiple bidders up until the end (midnight PDT).
95% of the time it works every time
If you keep predicting the same thing over and over, its bound to come true one day....
I hope I'll be dead and buried by then. I'd be 112. I don't want to be around to see how bad my generation screwed things up.

Crisser was accurate in his defense a few years back after the “buyers group” bubble broke and stayed bearish as it deflated.
Not sure his views today and my comment wasn’t directed at him and just an observation of what I have read on other boards.
There are lots of people who think the end is here for graded cards. I disagree.
Welcome to the forum
Thanks, HGL! Just starting out in here, and there's SO MUCH to look at. I'm enjoying the view!
This was more fun than the Home Run Derby.
