They must have govt experts involved in the script writing. Makes me wonder how Secretary of the Treasury William Woodin (1933) got his authorized specimen? It certainly wasn't from stealing since the US Mint came under his jurisdiction.
I was watching this episode with my wife and didn't know about the 1933 Double Eagle being featured on the show. During a commercial I checked e-mail and noted this thread.
After the commercial, sure enough, they mentioned the coin!
Yep... My wife had the program on... I was reading and my ears perked up when I heard that... They even had mentioned the sale price of the auctioned DE..... $7.5M.... Cheers, RickO

Given the level of the government greed and obsession concerning these coins, a judge would be gotten out of bed in the middle of night and the backhoes would have dug that coffin out of the ground before sunrise.

I watched that show also. I only remember seeing am image on the agents phone of the coin-but it was dated 1933 and it looked really good!
