Looks CAM+ to me, they might not care for the blue field tone; might need to dip it.
Your pics are pretty good, I think.

very frosty devices but tough to see the fields in the photos.

Thanks! Did you see what Cameo/DCAM's, for the SMS Nickels go for? $$$$$ Esp. in higher grades. :)
The 1966 seems to be the best prices.

I believe it's a cameo. High grades on these are very difficult, I see yours as a 66 CAM, fields aren't black enough for DCAM consideration. What looks like damage to the right of the 2nd T of Trust on the obverse, left of the E on the reverse, and above the dome along with a cheek that isn't fully struck up are the limiting factors in my eyes.

For comparison this is my only SMS DCAM an SP66 DCAM.

Dude, that is a Brilliant coin! Beautiful DCAM, wow. Yeah, mine isn't that adorable. Thanks for the comparison. Big Money, huh? Congrats.

it is possibly Cameo --- the devices look frosted but the fields have a post-dip burn look to their quality. that may just be the pictures. if you look at enough SMS Sets you'll eventually find a coin that has good contrast and a much sharper strike(the step detail is very weak).

Thanks buddy! ;) Yeah, this Step detail, is a little different than my 1967 SMS Nickel, huh? It's amazing how these Steps show such worn than others.

I think it will cam. Here is my SMS66Dcam for comparison.

From the picture.... maybe CAM....doubt DCAM... in hand, maybe different. Cheers, RickO

The fields look more satin on your example joey, which might keep it to cameo status. I have a 66 cent that's along those same lines.

Yes...the TPGs hate the satin look although the CAM contrast can be equally as impressive.
I have yet to figure out the reasoning behind these judgement calls, but it doesn't matter what we think.

    Let's check it out!

  • I'd say cameo. But I can grade a penny PR penny, when MS. Can you?

No. There's more lighting than frost......just way too much light.

joey, try considering what Leo said and photograph the coin with less light and a white background. also, it appears that the camera is angled to the coin's advantage, try shooting straight on to give a better idea of what the contrast actually looks like.
