Hello all, Sango here

I'm soon to have pcgs certify my Seated and Trade dollar collection (11 in total - 2 Seated, 9 Trades)

Was curious as to what you all think about this one? How does she look, as far as wear/grading? I have an amateur eye. Is she the real McCoy?

    What do you all think?

My gut feeling is that it is a Chinese counterfeit. Post pictures of all of your coins before you send them in. We may be able to save you some fees.

Did they all come from the same source?

I shall do so. No each coin has been from a different store or collector -- this particular one originally picked up in Oklahoma.

I've had a feeling that it could be, but nothing I can see even under 10x magnification looks suspicious to me?

My other coins are also from more common years and mintages than this coin would (supposedly) appear to be from. This is the only 'pattern' I've personally ever come across

i may try to take it to the feb 16-18 Long Beach show and see if it certifies

    See you there Fred

Yep, before you just submit to PCGS, you could show it to dozens, even hundreds, of dealers at the Long Beach show for free and most will give you a fair/honest opinion of what you have.

You can also take it to the PCGS "Ask the Expert" table during their operating hours and have a PCGS expert look at the coin for free and tell you what you have.

    Good luck.

Raw Seated and Trade Dollars have been so extensively counterfeited that a visit to the "ask the experts" table as others have suggested is a great idea. Don't submit them until you are certain they are the real thing. I am not an expert on the fakes in this series so I won't comment on the coin pictured.

All those patterns were proofs - none with flat stars and mushy denticles. Sorry

Sango, go to this site , USPatterns.com , go to photo gallery,
click on J434/P507. It talks about your coin that only has about 12
    known.
    Go to Heritage Auctions https://coins.ha.com/itm/patterns/1865-1866-1-dollar-judd-434-pollock-507-low-r7-pr62-ngc-cac/a/1208-5802.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

This is what your coin should look like, but yours doesn't, in my opinion.

Good luck & welcome to our site.

Looks like the ones I saw in markets in China some years ago. :(
I would take Fred up on his offer. He may give you the bad shot to the gut with the news of what it is, but you will likely learn quite a lot from talking to someone knowledgeable, in person, about them that will help you in the long run.

If, after that, they ARE (any of them) counterfeit, then if you can, go back to where you got each of them and ask for a refund based on the fact they sold you fakes.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
