Please recommend a good introductory book on world coins which circulated in early /colonial America.

I have the book below and it's a series of articles written by various numismatists focusing on the development of money in the Americas.
Coinage of the Americas
I don't have this book myself but it might match your inquiry.

Here is a link to the Notre Dame numismatics homepage which focuses heavily on coinage from early America. It is a great starting resource.

When you ID what you want/need, go to Abe Books on the net. It is a tenticled organization of used book dealers throughout the US (and world). You can usually find anything in numismatics through them.
Thanks for all three great suggestions.
I think that are you get a broad sense of what circulated in early America you can then dive deeply into specific reference materials for each series, ex. Gilboy would be my favorite for Pillar denominations. British coppers will have a variety of writings, etc. I have also found that talking to guys like John K. and John Agre have been great to jump start a path for me personally.

I reached ou to both of them yesterday. John K. & I are supposed to talk today.
For what it's worth, I worked with PCGS ( and both John's) to create a registry set of World Coins in Early America as a means to put forth a framework for a collecting strategy. Here is the link:

I especially like the George III guinea.
