Should have done a GTG thread. I would have guessed 64-65, but nice nonetheless.

  • No.

It appears the coin has a tad of rub and should not upgrade. Won't downgrade either because of the guaranty.

Just my opinions based on the scan - others surely will disagree.

Nice brown unc., no real financial incentive to resubmit.

I would not send this in for a Upgrade look but it would be sent in for a Downgrade look. Way too much green gunk on it for my taste of a 63.

Oxidized high points, maybe. But, no rub. A little muted on the luster which is what a 63BN is. Certainly might go 64BN but that's probably not worth the fees to try. Seems like average eye appeal.

The green in the lettering and date is what I noticed too. Does it look like pvc in hand?

Do not think its PVC but just a build up of Green Gunk on both sides. I have a few other 63 coins that show none of this on them. Maybe because its almost mark free it was given the 63 grade.

Jon I am putting together a bunch of stuff to give to the Grand Daughters in a few years. Mercs, Indians, Lincolns and Buffs. Both Graded and Raw. Of course I get to enjoy them now.

Looks like PVC or verdigris to me.

Don't know. The picture raises some questions even though the fields and devices are very clean. This is one that I'd have to see "in the flesh". A little premature to jump all over it though. If it were mine and it didn't look played with in he hand I'd keep it, but not resubmit. Enjoy the coin, don't let doubts and dreams of a higher number cloud your enjoyment. Only my humble opinion.

  • PCGS price guide only bumps it $35 for a 64BN - not worth the resubmission fee even if under-graded.

Hey, as a matter of curiosity, what would the PCGS guaranty pay if it is regraded genny?

Looks like pvc damage to me. I know if I would have sent it in it would have come back not with a straight grade

It looks like a nice coin to me but with these high examination/maintenance copper, etc. cents always eyeball them before submission and do what's necessary to get off problem stuff. And go with the highest/fastest grading level for the best grade. lol

Looks 63BN to me due to the greenish toning around the lettering and date on the obverse.

Based on the photos it is a coin I wouldn't pay 63 money for. Poor eye-appeal.

Not enough detail in the feathers to get a 64 imo

    Try it ATS. :o:D>:)

It is not a 64.... and I would take care of the green residues before they become a real problem.... Cheers, RickO
