Do people post facts here, or opinion? Including CAC!

I'm seeing more these days folks not stating an opinion, when it IS an opinion. I don't think it's good information sometimes. Some may be good with a lot of experience, but nobody can be that good. (stman ducking )

I have noticed that on what will go up threads, people usually respond that what they collect will go up.
this could be a stman classic!!
One of the great travesties of our age, and the irony of the "information era", is that feelings outweigh facts.
I like that. Well, I didn't make it official on the ratings though. But I like it.
Thanks, I think! Heh Heh

We post our viewpoints, which are a mixture of facts and opinion. Some people, and some posts are more one than the other, but I have no idea how other to answer this question, except to state the obvious (fact) and that it's fine that way (opinion)

I think both fact and opinion. Many times fact cannot be determined from information/pic given and an opinion is the only formulation available.
I see more "experts" posting everything as FACT. Just my opinion of course.
Here is one I see more lately...... "John" at CAC only stickers original coins. Or, if you have a stickered gold coin that means it's an original coin and you can feel good about that. Now I know some will slam me and think I have something against CAC. I have something against the not so true information that gets slung around here.
If you want to see personal interpreted opinions instead of facts being posted, just visit the PM forum.
When I have facts or personal experiences to support a statement, I present those as facts. When they are just an educated guess based on multiple inputs, I try to ensure that's stated as an opinion. There are plenty of facts about our coin market, including CAC. Use them when they count.
For those that routinely post opinions as facts, or can't recognize a fact when it hits them in the face....I put them on "ignore."
Duh, this forum is on the Internet so everything has to be true.
We cant give you are opinion or fact with out a pic a good pic....
Hoard the keys.
I want to say I agree, but might not be the right thing to say.

WOW, that's impressive!
That's just your opinion

A fact....he's dead.
Curious-Where did the Lincoln picture come from?

no harm in stating opinions just make sure that the opinion is not marred by personal feelings, when people let opinions and personal feelings mix the result can become a opinion that sees only one side and nothing else
a mix of fact and opinion is also a good idea cause it tends to balance both out

I don't remember. But do remember it stating it was a rare picture.
Opinions are constantly stated as facts here.... every time someone posts a slab with a grade.... all grades are opinions... and that is a fact. Cheers, RickO
I asked because I was wondering if it was the lost picture that Ronald Rietveld found in the early 1950s. The picture he found was the last picture taken of Lincoln. Dr. Rietveld is one of the top Lincoln scholars in the country.

Regarding the Lincoln death pic:
I remember reading many years ago that there was only one picture of dead Lincoln. Photographers were strictly forbidden to take pictures when his body was exhibited at various cities on the way from Washington to Springfield, IL, although many thousands of mourners passed by his open coffin. I believe it was Edwin Stanton who felt strongly about the photography; he was effectively running the government after Lincoln's death.
The one picture that I've seen published is a distant shot and not easily identifiable as Lincoln. It was confiscated from the photographer and the negative meant to be destroyed, but presumably was not. I believe the picture was found with the John Hay papers (Lincoln's secretary) in the 20th century.
The pic in this thread I think is a fake (there were many fake 'dead Lincoln' pictures)
Now in a thread about facts I am stating faulty memories and a book that I failed to properly cite

Interesting...what factual information is presented to support Nap's clearly popular opinion?
