    Possible very short selling period....ordered a "handful"

    That was the pre-sale price in the email. My recollection FWIW is that in prior/earlier years the premium wasn't that high.

    So is this the normal uncirc W coin burnished with edge lettering added or will there be 2 coins, one with LE and one with normal reeded edge?

    Only one coin...burnished with edge lettering.... From what I understand, production must cease by 12/31/2016.

    Also, will this coin and its proof counterpart be considered type coins within the series?

    Yup, they made 'em. They were the size of a half dollar with a different reverse. The "W" was part of the designer's initials. :p

    When some of the coins due out this year were first announced, I was VERY excited and eager to pick up the gold commems and the Anniv. Eagles, but the mint really screwed everything up by overcharging and not setting reasonable mintage limits. I keep seeing the gold SLQ and WLH price go down with the spot price, I'm glad I didn't bother, not that there is anything else around worth buying for those looking for nice seminumi coins lately.

    As of 12/2 US Mint revealed that it is no longer striking American Silver Eagles and American Gold Buffalo bullion coins dated for 2016, and that it will continue to sell those that they have already made until they’re gone. How many are left was not disclosed.
