Purchased directly from the late Herb Hicks a few years back. Both are Type H Reverses. (Proof die reverse)
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

That's a great looking 1955-D, SkyMan. They don't typically come looking like that with smoothly toned reverses and the auburn-green pallet often seen on the 1949-D issues. I like it!

Interesting 1952-S, SkyMan. It looks like it was in an album instead of a US Mint Set. Regardless, I will see your 1952-S with a 1952-S that I picked directly out of a pile of 300-intact US Mint Sets.

I like that 1971-S! The two images of it are awfully cool when paired together.

Here is one of mine that many folks just do not feel the love for at all. It's a 1957-D and these can come with wonderful green, gold and auburn colors, but this particular coin presents as a very deep, near jet black or glossy brown color with vividly strong undertones of magenta and green on the obverse. I like it quite a bit-

Those 1950-S WQs are amazing bronze6827! This is not a double mint-set year so finding coins like that is tough, tough, tough. Is there a story behind them? I would love to read it.

I hear you on the 50-S quarters - not easy to find with decent color. I bought those 3 from Lou Pearlman at a Baltimore show a number of years ago. They were all in 2x2's, in a double row Washington quarter box. Lou has always had a decent selection of toned coins, as he often buys privately. There was a fourth, but, it was really not a nice technical grade under the color and I opted to leave it behind.

There's a nice 63 Franklin with green/orange toning in there that I got raw from Lou as well.

That's a great group of coins in your showcase set! My favorites would likely be the 1935, 1936 1946, 1952-S (first coin) and 1954-S (first coin) WQs. It's nice to see a set where someone doesn't mind putting in duplicates.

That's a great 1937-S and it would even get the ricko seal of approval! By the way, I think this is one of the most under-rated dates in the series.

I've been attempting to add a variety of "looks" in this thread because these wonderful coins from this terrific series can appear so different from one another. Here is a 1947-D that has almost nothing in common with the first coin, also a 1947-D, which I posted to this thread-
