My 1960 set in progress

I was showing my progress in completing 1960 Topps Baseball in PSA 8 on another forum which is no longer with us. I have been working on it many years. I have 528/572 in PSA 8, another 29 in PSA holders in lesser condition and 9 others raw. Finishing this set is on my bucket list. I think I will finish the set in lesser condition but the undertaker will probably get me before I get the final PSA 8. This is my latest addition.

Congrats on getting as far as you have.The 60 was one of my favorites dating back to my childhood days.I just purchased a nice raw set recently but will keep it that way.After my wife died in 2012 I sold my entire collection except for a few things .I managed to put together the 59 set and is on the retired list as childhood memories.How excited I was to have completed it .It was just a tad under 7.5.

I am 67 now so trying to put together a graded set now could be difficult being only on SS AND PENSION,but sure would like to.

That's a beautiful card of Mathews......1960 was probably the first year I ever purchased a pack of cards .......maybe 4 or 5 packs ........I was nine years old ! The card design is unique to the Topps set , as a kid I always thought it was hard to read the names

Went through my set and realized I need an additional upgrade.

I believe an accurate count is 531 in PSA 8 or better with my latest pickup.

Thanks. I only need 488 Cash, 489 Ridzik, and 509 Davis to complete the set in PSA holders. There were a couple 509s on my watch list. One appeared to be severely overgraded and both were a good bit overpriced.

Thanks. No card stands out to me head and shoulders above the others. Of course I like the star cards and the Indians and Reds as they were my favorite teams in 1960, and they still are. I'm only trying to finish the basic set for now.

I started this thread about a year ago. I am quite happy with the progress I made. I picked up 13 cards I did not have in PSA holders and added 15 in PSA 8 or better. If it seems the math doesn't add up I picked up some in less than 8 and most of the 15 in PSA 8 or better were upgrades. This is my first pickup of 2017.

I'm fairly new here, and all of your 1960 cards are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. The 1960 set is one of my favorites too. My big trouble is I have too many favorite sets. They are: 1960, 1956, 1957, 1961 and 1958. I have a few graded 61's, but I may either sell them, or crack them for my raw set. How do the prices run on the 60's?

Thanks for sharing and tips for collecting the 60 set.

Unheralded commons in PSA 8 can be had for anywhere between twelve to twenty dollars depending on whether anyone else wants it. They have been like that for many years. $100, $200, $300 PSA 8 commons have only shown slight increases over the last several years. Stars such as Mantle, Yaz, McCovey and very low pop commons such as Simmons are on a rocket to the moon. If you want to purchase some 1960 cards VCP is a good tool to have, even more so than SMR.

Wow, the Lopez is amazing! I love the look of the Lopez card.....color, pose, etc and you are right, damn near impossible to find centered. Congrats on such a nice card!
