I want to know what is going on at PCGS and how they plan to correct it.
I know they can’t make coin quality problems go away, but PCGS is slowing down and stagnating the collectors and that isn’t good for anyone.
Example:
For the 2014 pennies PCGS has graded 1033.
For the 2015 pennies PCGS has graded 803.
For the 2016 pennies PCGS has graded 268.
We are 4/5 through the 2016 year and they have only graded about ¼ of the normal amount.
Have people stopped collecting pennies?
Have the dealers stopped submitting pennies?

How is this PCGS problem to solve? They grade what is sent in to them.
To be curious, I hope you are quoting 2014 pennies graded in the calendar year 2014, not the cumulative amount of pennies graded since 2014. How you would have at hand the number of pennies graded in 2014 is beyond me.

....and who are you?
Volumes at PCGS are up 40% from last year and are at RECORD coin volumes. They are not slowing down, they are in fact increasing. To pull out one coin type and use that as an example is just....well I can't say that word here.
coin volumes from the latest annual report filed with the SEC for fiscal years ending in June:
2016 2.371M
2015 2.067M
2014 2.075M
Keep in mind, fiscal 2016 only had 6 months of their new Modern initiative to capture market share and they signed a deal with the Chinese Mint in July to grade about 200,000 coins/qtr for the next five years.
This post is illogical, unsubstantiated and unreasonable. Cheers, RickO
Stagnating collectors? I've never met a collector who collects certified modern Lincoln cents, and on top of that after just checking prices from a modern coin dealer, PR-70's from 2016 are no more expensive than 2015's so what's the problem?

I had no idea they were worth submitting.
If you believe the price guides, the mint is putting out some shoddy pennies!
I suggest an experiment for the OP. Submit 1000 2016 pennies and see if PCGS corrects their problem.

Someone has been watching too many reruns of Perry Mason.
Great idea!
I want to eat breakfast
in a new calendar collectors/dealers tend to send in the highest quality coins they can from searching fresh bags, rolls, etc.
it could be that the quality is low this year.
I'd like to know what PCGS thinks about this:

Roger,
Kinda early for Scotch, don't ya think?
I heard they are way behind on grading 1804 dollars, too.
PCGS Stopped grading pennies and are now grading cents

Why do you think that this is a PCGS problem? They only grade what is submitted to them.
I have looked through quite a few 2016-D rolls, and haven't found one coin worthy of submitting.
The coins with no marks are already spotted, and the coins with bad contact marks of course are not spotted.
That may be the main reason.
Haven't seen any 2016 Philly rolls around here.
I just want to be a part of this.
Hoard the keys.
I'm more concerned with the lack of certified Chain Cents. PCGS needs to certify more of them so I can buy a full set by die marriage for, oh I don't know, less than $1000.
PCGS: Get right on that.
