Re: AT Commemorative?

I bought the coin that was discussed in this thread, despite the overwhelmingly negative response.

The color is pretty wild (almost too wild), but I don't think it is AT. I'll let you know what PCGS said when I get the coin back. In the meantime, here is a video of the coin taken with my iPhone.

My bathroom has the best lighting for examining coins.

I can't say whether it's AT/NT (good luck!) but I also can't say I don't like it. The video made it look better than I thought it would.

    Major score if it grades.

    Good Luck.

It's AT but that seems to be independent of whether it will grade. Good luck !

I also can't say AT or NT but I like your pics and video although I was nervous about it falling in the sink. Lol.

    Good luck.

    Good luck.

I thought about handling the coin raw for the video but I realized holding it over the sink without any protection might give someone here a heart attack.

I think it looks closer to MA in your pics, but I still think it looks unnatural and unlike any Lincoln I have ever seen.

I think it is NT and will grade no problem.

But, I don't know crap about commems and their toning patterns.

I think this is the "crackle" toning that was once deemed MA, but the TPGs have since come to reject.

I think it will probably grade.

I've seen this mottled toning on Lincoln Commems before. Remember a couple at Heritage a while back bringing huge money in 67 and 68. What do you think the technical grade might be on this one?

My hopes are high; MS67 would not surprise me. There are no major contact marks.

I am certain it is NT and MA. I'd bet it was stored in a manilla 2x2 to get that toning.

The color progression looks good to me, I think it should and will straight grade. Nice pickup!

A long time ago that was called Texas toning after the guy who did them...sorry. 100 percent AT.

Not loving it. I had some commems like this rejected before. I'm gun shy now. But anything is possible on one single grading event.

No one can say with absolute certainty, that the coin didn't tone naturally. But the TPG's don't need certainty. They only need preponderance of the evidence.
