So... Would Ya?

I bought something that arrived far better then expected and I'm thrilled. During the negotiation the seller and I had been 6% apart on what she really wanted. I offered up everything I had in my PayPal account and she accepted even taking my last 2 cents I mentioned in jest if it would make a difference. Now here and my account flush again I'm considering sending the seller the additional amount she really wanted. So would you out of the goodness of your heart pay more post deal?

You will pay yourself back the first time you look in the mirror.
Thanks so true!
It's been on my mind since it arrived yesterday and sending the payment is on my list of things to do this morning.
If I was thinking strategically toward a seller who I hoped to establish a long relationship with and knew they had other good material, I'd think about a little extra as a thank you.
From a dealer... no.
You took the risk. What if it would have arrived way worse? Would you get money back?
Nah. You'll just make them wonder why you're paying more and think they got ripped off
This.
You might be able to help her in another way?

I did take a risk as I couldn't fully see what I was buying.
The number one negotiation practice is knowing when to just walk away.
So I wasn't eager to offer any more then I did.
Now here on a bad day it's worth nearly 3 times what I paid wholesale.
At the end of the day we all have to sleep with ourselves.

Collector or inheritor who is just trying to raise funds (whether for emergency or estate). Yeah, I probably would.
One off dealer who makes a business of buying and selling. Nah.
Dealer who I have long, quality relationship with? I'd probably at least reach out and let them know.
How much is the 6% off dollar wise by the way?

Exactly
No?

Just don't let yourself get too far ahead or behind with someone because you might never be able to even out.
If you really feel compelled, then buy something from her again and pay her the full asking price or closer to retail.
This one's a done deal imho.

You were thrilled with your purchase. Why not if you have the ability to pay a bit more, more like the amount the seller was asking for?
It's called spreading goodwill. Not everyone is out to rip others.Send that positive energy message whenever you can.
Life is short and goodwill toward others is balm for the soul.
I agree with this.

I feel good about having done it now, already thought about it yesterday, and doubt I'll feel any different a few years down the road.
I don't surf the web for things to flip just items for me.
I'm not seeing much these days I want or especially to pay up for, however this is something I would have handsomely had I seen it in hand.
When the day comes to sell I'll still do well even with the additional nominal percentage now paid.
Felling warm & fuzzy right now and not the slightest bit foolish.
However you can all weigh my decision any way you want?
Thanks!

Well prior to doing so I should mention that I gave her exactly what she wanted and not a penny more.
As I rounded my payment off since she previously took my last 2 cents

Is this the joke of the day club?

No good deed goes unpunished.
One thing that I have done in buying coins is to select coins that I Like that are priced fairly and buy them. While some will say this makes me a chump, I think it demonstrates a sense of fairness that leads to the ability to strike a deal on those coins where the difference is the 6 percent described in this thread

Broadstruck, I commend you for a kind gesture that I believe will pay you back tenfold. The very fact that you thought to do such a kind thing in the first place speaks volumes about your character. I've done similar things in the past and ALWAYS have felt that I came out way ahead in the deal in ways that $$ can't buy. Good for you!
But if you are not willing to pay a price for who you want to be, then you will pay another price for being who you are.
Profound comment!
