21 Years To Complete This Set!

It took 21 years but just last week I completed the full 140 coin lincoln wheat cent collection with PCGS colorfully toned coins. The last coin was a modest 1923S PCGS graded monday that had target reverse rainbow color. It's #6 in the colorless lincoln registry but it might be #1 if the collectors with red lincoln sets minded their manners and stayed in the other registries.
Coyote Ugly Showcase Set

I also upgraded this great coin thanks to Dale Larsen (1922D in PCGS 66RB) and a few others.

Honk if you approve!

I eventually plan to get them all imaged by a single consistent source. Quite a few monsters are either not imaged or have poor pictures.

Double honk on the coins above, especially that 22-d! Your link takes us to your set that is unpublished and can't view.

BTW- What did PCGS intend with a colorless set?

Awesome coins to end the set Jeff!! Congrats on completing a very disciplined set with stupendous coins!

Beautiful Jeff. Love them all!! You should feel very proud.

Does this mean you don't need that lowly 38-D in 66BN?

Awesome color. Can't wait to see all when pics are all ready.

Apologies for being in the way, Coppercolor. I'm #4 in that registry.

Why can't we see your set? I love the coins you showed here!

    Honk. Honk. Honk........Honk 140.

21 years is a life mission. you can not only be proud of your accomplishment, but we on this forum are also very proud of you. You are correct about the difficulty of collecting sets of toned coins. I collect IHC proofs (Paha Sapa Indians in the registry) and MPL's (Centennial Cents in the colorless registry). I need only three (and two crossovers) for the IHC set, and I hope it does not take me a total of 21 years to find them toned and 66 or better.

Sleep well tonight dreaming of colored copper.

Sorry about that, here it is corrected. This link goes to my showcase, not my competitive registry. This one has all my dupes.

A 22-D is 66RB is absurd (in a good way). Been enjoying your set for the last couple days now, too much eye candy for one sitting! Did I count 40 66BN's?? image

    Beep, Beep, and double Beep!!!!

Way to go Jeff, what a great set. Having seen a few of your babies in person, I look forward to seeing the complete set. Perhaps at FUN in January? Oh, and I'm thrilled you own a few I provided. Makes me feel a part of the set.

    Congrats my friend...

    Amazing accomplishment.

Adding to the amazement is the toning. So nice.

    Happy for you.

More than patience, I enjoyed the incredible goodwill and help of many friends, dealers and collectors. I wouldn't want to begin to name them but if you look at my registry I try to attribute credit to every person who helped me find a coin in the set.

Jim, it's been fun collecting with you and I'm glad to have a number of great pieces from you.

I think I'm going to plan on taking it to Winter FUN 2017.

Once upon a time Don Willis expressed some interest in helping display it but he might not even remember. I'm pretty sure I can count on a number of dealers helping me at any rate. There is only the matter of tables and cases, as I have enough rainbow lincolns to fill three glass cases.

I spent some time looking at the photos and really enjoyed myself. It makes me happy to see someone appreciate the variety of toning these wheat heads can take on. I have spent some time collecting high grade toned Lincolns myself and know full well what it takes to find and land them. The difficulty has kept me topping the run at year 1933. I'm impressed that you've taken it all the way to 1958. I would bet that your not through though, it looks like you'd be a sucker for the next Killer if it got in front of you. It would almost be called a sickness if we considered collecting a vice at all. Thanks for sharing, and I hope you continue to nurture and prune your set! You are obviously are taking pleasure in the pursuit.

Someone is going to have to spend a lot of time tweaking the lighting and editing the photos to get colors to be true. Each coin is different. Someone is going to spend a lot of time dealing with filters, color saturation, and possibly white balance.

    Jeff,

Just a thought, but maybe we (you, me and Rainbowroosie) could get a table to display our entire collections. Your awesome Lincoln's, my complete Roosie Set (Seven Stars) in NGC MS67*/MS67+*/MS67*FT/MS67FT+* and Bills #1 Roosie Set. Maybe Onlyroosies would bring his #1 PCGS Roosie Set.

It would be really cool to see that much color in one place. Would blow ones mind.
