grading errors w/o designation

.
we get toners, varieties, marriages etc graded with no designation BUT
how about errors.
anyone send errors in simply for the standard grading fee with no error desig?
basically, can we do it?
honestly dont recall this being asked but surely it has been.
seems like a good way to get some errors protected and certified; especially moderns 1965 and forward.
maybe they wont as people/customers would think pcgs may be on the line since it is in their holder w/o desig. but it seems the same prob would exist with the aforementioned designations.

I recently saw a member here who submitted a VERY obvious 1918/7 SLQ and they didn't get the designation the first time around cause the graders were not looking for the rare variety (WTF?). If you are looking for the designation on the slab and it is worth the cost, I'd pay the money to have it reviewed for the error/variety to get the premium when selling it. If a TPG can't ID a 1918/7 SLQ in a well preserved state, then I don't know what they would be able to ID or would want to ID if they didn't receive the extra money during the submittal process... and I wouldn't want to have to go through the submission process multiple times if I didn't have to...
For example, a coin that would grade MS67 but having a strike thru error would be downgraded to MS66 or even lower.
Another coin that would normally qualify for MS65, but has a clip might get downed to MS64.
ty for your input.
need to try this out.
wont hold anyone accountable is desired results aren't achieved.
was concerned it wasn't even an option.

The error fee ($60) is pretty steep, but I am sure that there is more research required, so it would have to worthwhile to me.
Bottom line is that if it is worth it to you, that is what matters!

You can probably send in very minor errors without the error coin fee, but as soon as the error crosses the threshold of something that someone in the market for a non-error coin wouldn't want, they should bounce it from normal grading.

Perhaps, PCGS would cross a coin with a variety noted on the old slab at no extra charge but I doubt it. Call them.
