Feeling sorry for B&M dealers this morning.

messydeskmessydesk Posts: 20,345 ✭✭✭✭✭
AOL is the latest to set up innocent B&M dealers to be evil crushers of dreams and scam artists with this sloppy article. They'll be switching out their morning coffee for bourbon when they read this. (Maybe they already did, since it's a few days old.) Has there ever been a coin-related article in the non-numismatic press that wasn't misleading, sloppy, or just full of errors?

Apparently it's a brand name that Verizon felt was worth retaining for some reason.

Glad to see mainstream dipping their toes instead of their coins.

I'd rather have AOL still hanging on than Verizon . I look forward to a day when Verizon no longer exists.

AOL as well as other sites are generating these articles as a form of click bait that you went after. It is just advertising paid for by Ebay to help drive traffic and sales to their site. Blame Ebay, not AOL.

Ebay also seeds most clicked on Ebay images into Google image searches which many times just redirect the user back to Ebay without more info or direct link to image. Google gets paid and Ebay sees more traffic.

Not good. People will be bringing dateless buffaloes by the pound expecting no less than $50 each.

OMG. That is the most horrible, misleading coin article I have ever seen.

    Hands down.

what we get over the phone and counter as a matter of routine is people quoting MS64 prices for G4 coins, and the fact that the average person equates value with how old something is tends to get us the most disgruntled walk-ins.

I noticed that it wasn't eBay reps speaking on there, but one of the prominent auction galleries reps.

I hope you have a history of longevity in your family..I happen to like Verizon FIOS, especially their digital landlines & high speed routers...Much better quality than my previous cable supplier. PS, I'm also a subscriber (free) of AOL and have been for years. Most of us ignore that type of tabloid headline and don't even bother reading it.

I wonder how many are lickin their chops just waitin for suckers to walk thru the door? Might not be any $100K coins, but I bet some decent stuff. Ma'am, no need to hurt yourself luggin that bag O' Morgans back home. I'll give ya 2 bux apiece for em.

What article? I clicked on the link and all I see is a 2 minute video that doesn't say much and the link to the 10 photos that shows ordinary data coins with high sales prices.
    I love the 3 P's: PB&J, PBR and PCGS.
