I like coins that actually circulated and have a story behind them. My choice is the 1972 D quarter with the high relief proof artwork reverse and the 1972 Philly Ike dollar with the high relief proof artwork reverse. Then we have Frank Gasparro's statement that proof died were accidentally used for 1972 circulation strikes. Which one was he aware of or both? Two dies were used for the Ike and one would have been sufficient for the quarter.
Edit: Oops, Sorry. I guess these coins are from the last century, although well under 100 years old.
Curse me for asking, but who's the best secondary source for those UHRs?

The 2009 UHR with the 2015 HR being a close second.

My overall favorite coin is the Morgan Dollar(19th Century) (20th Century) The Lincoln Cent (21st Century), to answer your question, has got to be the Gold UHR. Only because I can't decide on any other coin? I am not really a Gold collector too, but you have to admit, the coin is beautiful!

I'm agreeing to this post only because I think the UHR is beautiful and needs to be seen again on the second page of this thread. The gold buff ain't so bad either.

For me it's a tie between the 2000 $10 Gold/Platinum Library of Congress or the Buffalo Reverse Proof.
I like these two a lot.
I don't really consider the UHR a "Modern Coin". It's a classic coin with modern minting techniques.
