Any success in upgrading a CAC green label to a gold label??

I once persuaded CAC to reconsider a first-time rejection to affix the green label.

Has anyone succeeded in upgrading a green label CAC to merit a gold label??

    Yes.

How would one go about doing this? Regrade and re-submit? I always thought CAC logged their results by Cert number to maintain consistency and did not go back on their decisions like PCGS or NGC.

I too would like more specifics about how this was accomplished by those who were successful.

Did they contact or lobby JA in advance?

Did they just send in the coin and ask for a reevaluation?

What were the grades at which they were successful? I have a PCGS Pr66 green CAC and am aiming for a Pr66 gold CAC. The coin should be (IMHO) a PCGS Pr67 Cameo. Is that sufficient to get the gold bean??

Just send the coin in with the green CAC sticker and hope for the best!

I have never tried it, however, I would assume submitting it for reconsideration would be the

    appropriate path.... Cheers, RickO

Never tried, but I'd assume you'd want to include your opinion about WHY you think the coin deserves more.

If you send in a coin that failed the first time, they don't automatically reject it. JA says they are willing to give the coin a second look. If it fails a second time I believe collectors are charged for it.

Is the scenario that the submitter sends in an already green stickered coin for a review or that the coin itself is reholdered/regraded and then resubmitted?

I read it differently, although it does state "should" and not "shall"...

To be the sacrificial lamb here, i'll provide some "redacted" feedback...

Simply put, to get a gold sticker your coin needs to be a full 2 points above the current slabbed grade, or like 1.9+ with mega eye appeal.

It should be a coin that would be a no brainer Green sticker at the next higher grade...

So a PR66 should be able to grade a PR67 and even at the new level be PQ enough to get a green CAC...

So, does your coin stand head/shoulders above every other PR67? If you sent it in for regrade, would it grade Pr67. If so, would it Green CAC at the new grade? If it does, then you have a shot at Gold CAC.
