You got my money? Where's my money, man??

If you're an eBay seller, then starting May 1st, eBay wants you to offer a 30-day return privilege.

You don't have to of course. But if you don't then eBay will take away your Top Rated Seller status and your 20% Final Value Fee Discount.

30 Day Returns

If you're a buyer, go ahead and buy a coin on eBay. Check it out. See if you can flip it for a profit. You've got a month.

If not, just return it to the seller and say Where's my money? I want my money, man.

Sounds like a quick way to get blocked by a seller. Also, this sounds expensive and time consuming---insured registered mail returns of expensive coins can eat up a lot of money.

All you have to do, is list your coins in the bullion category, which is exempt from the 30 day return policyimage

Ebay seems to be getting worse in all respects... rules such as this make it harder for sellers, more scams than ever before.....just not worth it anymore. Cheers, RickO

Their hope and need of ever increasing sales and profits is driving their silly behavior. They really need to take a fresh look at what this is doing to sellers.

I have been a member of eBay for a long time (since 1999), and I have purchased many half dimes on that venue. But I have always been a buyer - never a seller. I have enjoyed my eBay experience, and have amassed well over 1000 100% positive feedbacks. But I read so many horror stories, on this forum and others, about just how difficult eBay has made things for sellers, making it increasingly difficult to make a profit and protect yourselves from deceptive and crooked buyers. My hat is off to all of you eBay sellers, who continue to work against decreasing odds that you will be able to protect yourselves. I honestly don't know why you continue to do it, but I am grateful that some of you still do.

I don't know if it is really going to change much. I know that it does open the window of opportunity for that sort of thing, but ebay already had 45 day window for SNAD, so if a a shady buyer wanted they could already be doing that. I have only had a couple of coins returned over the last few years, and in every case the buyer notified me within a day or two of receiving the coin.

Yep, 14-days was already too long. But in the rare instances a buyer of mine wanted a return, it was almost always initiated within a day or two of receipt. I can only think of one time a buyer started a return towards the end of the 14-day period. That's out of hundreds and hundreds of transactions. Although the move to 30-days is an unreasonable requirement by eBay, I don't think it'll change much for sellers. Most buyers are honest and reasonable. The 20% discount on fees saves me thousands of dollars a year so it's too important to give up as that savings certainly helps get deals done for me, my consignors and those who buy coins from me.

Certainly stacked against buyers back in 2008.....the year I stopped buying coins on Ebay when it was quite clear they didn't have your back.

I don't buy coins from auctions with the intent to flip them, but if I get one I don't like, I prefer to try to sell it rather than return it.

30 days is crazy, people can have buyers remorse about anything in 30 days.

eBay is now the LOCAL STORE for more and more people.

Me included since stores are so damned inept about inventroy control.

The Sacramento ...local.... market is 3 million or so and it's now a contest amongst stores to see how many things I buy.....(bought)... are now no longer stocked.

I doubt ....coins.... even play into the eBay picture.

The coin market is also a luxury market and Americans have been globalized out of luxury.

Can't believe these people bashing early days of ebay. I bought then got a lot of good deals, no problems. Sold a lot too.

One thing is if buying big ticket stuff, simply went to a show where I could buy it sight seen.

Yes-I got burned for $400 way back when. But, to more than offset that, I cherried many, many good things. That's MUCH tougher to do these days.

Just add this fact to your ebay auctions; Hi Just because I don't offer the 30 days, does this make me any less of a Top Rated Seller? Check my feedback, I have more than 10,000 satisfied customers.

Selling used underwear on eBay is becoming a real hassle. Anyone need some Fruit of the Loom shorts ? I just shipped my pants.
