A bidder with 2 feedbacks on a $1,500 item of mine.
I have an auction running with a high bid of over $1,500 on one of my coins. If I require payment via paypal, is there anything I need to worry about?

I probably would not worry as the bidding is not yet over....then worry!

He's paid, what more can I ask?
$1,500 shill bidder with feedback of 1.
For those that want to waste their time go ahead and search for me. Or block me.
Heck I would too just to feel the power.
Signed, stman with around 30 feedbacks.
The only selling problem I had was with a buyer with a 900+ feedback. He refused to pay via Paypal for political reasons and insisted on mailing me a money order. Just extra hassle for me as I had to wait to receive money and read his long emails about Paypal trying to destroy the money system.
Set up your selling parameters to accept PayPal only. The above bidder would not have been able to bid on your auction. 90% of my automatic bidding reject come from sellers w/o a PayPal account & to many unpaid item strikes. The other 10% from bidders located in countries I don't ship to. Ebay automatically rejects those attempting to bid, thereby saving you the headache.
Now, since it is NEW, it is at ZERO (0) feedback. I can just imagine the crying, whining, etc, from a seller when I bid on their items now (account is less than a week old and I haven't bid on anything...yet...but I may be about to).
Not EVERY low feedback bidder is a newbie....
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I did that after that buyer.

It could be worse. You could be Great Southern Coin with a $1,500 high bidder with a feedback of 1. But in this case, it's pretty much guaranteed that high bidder is a shill.
$1,500 shill bidder with feedback of 1.
If they weren't so damn unethical these guys would be comical.
Can we see a link to the coin from the OP?
In the old days an electronic form of payment wasn't required.
I never had a problem with any checks or money orders I got, but on expensive items I'd require a USPS money order. They are great.
No fees and you cash them at the PO before you ship.
Crossing my fingers doesn't seem that effective.
Yeah, I know that everyone starts with zero feedbacks, but do zero feedback bidders always start out at $1,500?

Non- payment just takes your item off the market for a couple weeks and some extra work on your part.
Make sure payment clears before shipping and to a verified address if PayPal.
EBay used to have an option to block bidder with less than 10 feedback, now the best I could find is negative feedback score (can only get if seller now) and a couple non-payments in last ?month?
^ A saying repeated more times than I can count on feepay forums when a seller writes that they've been ripped off.
Check out my iPhone app SlabReader!
I have a buying account, too. Although mine has about 60 feedback, but it still could appear as a newbie...

I have sold to quite a few 0 feedback users recently. I think collectors.com has brought many new users to ebay since all ebay listings are there! KUDOS to PCGS for this!
From my experience, it's not the newbees that turn out to be NPB, but the more established ones. If you are selling on any platform, don't let paranoia dictate your better judgment.
I have sold to enough zero feedback buyers that I wouldn't get concerned. Every time one of them buys one of my coins, I hold my breath. But, I've never been burned (knock on wood).

+1
lots of 0-5 fb buyers. - including some of my higher dollar items.
our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we oft might win by fearing to attempt.
.
I did specify paypal only, and no returns. For this value, I ship Registered Mail. I don't know what else I can do to protect myself.

If a coin I was watching (waiting for ebay bucks to increase) hadn't sold before I created the account and got the ebay bucks offer, I was going to bid/win on a $2000+ coin as a ZERO feedback account.
As it is, I just bid/won on a $500 coin as a ZERO feedback account. I now have ONE for my feedback.

Governments can print currency. Only the people can print faith in it — and they’re running low on ink.
He could be a rich guy that just discovered eBay or somebody like Bochi who just set up a new account.
Or maybe he's planning on getting a divorce and converting the couple's cash to gold to hide it from his wife?
Who knows why.
Just make sure you follow the procedures to be covered under eBay's seller protection and have the package sent with USPS Signature Confirmation.
He's the high bidder on 2 of 3 gold items that close in an hour.
If we pays you might see his feedback double today.

Feedback means diddley squat
This week, I just had a seller with 9000 positive feedbacks and zero negatives steal my cherrypick and send me a replacement coin and act dumb about it...
Feedback means diddley squat
Some of sellers have 'stock photo' of either their past sale or another picture they like. I bought a early proof Jefferson and the photo was a cropped photo of a coin in someones registry set. I could trace the die polish lines on the DCAM coin in the past that had sold for $10K. I did a search after I received their coin to see if I could find where they snagged their photo.
So it is possible they did not steal your cherrypick, but had previously stole someones' pics. This is why I really dislike eBays use of their photos from some Tru-View that you are never going to get.
How many items have you sold to ebay'ers with zero feedback, looking like they joined to just get your item.....??? I have to say....."quite a few" !!!!
I always have to think back, probably 35 years or so ago......I'm sitting in my store on a Saturday morning. Guy walks in...it's cold...November maybe.....
His pants are shabby, his coat is torn.......I'm thinking "oh no, what the heck"?....."Do you buy Indian cents"? he says......."Yea, sure I do"......
He pulls out a little pile of old, rounded corner 2 by 2's, held in a pile with a rubber band. Pulls off the rubber band and starts laying them on the counter.
The first one I pick up is a '64 L in XF.......OMG I'm thinking.....He starts talking about the 'L' and how significant it is among the series. So we get into a nice discussion, and it's apparent that this guy truly loved Indians.....There's a '71 and '72 in VF, late 70's in XF......a few nice copper nicks.....no '77 or the like....but really nice collectible cents. The kind of stuff that doesn't walk in every day. I remember giving him close to 4 figures at the time. I was pretty new in business and I remember thinking that this is going to happen all the time.......Well, it doesn't happen all the time. You don't meet people that maybe love your game and need help at the same time. If I could meet that guy today, I would gladly give him a thousand dollars too much. He was that special and that needy. I was too new in business and didn't have the discretionary dollars at that time. I think about him a lot......I wonder what became of him.
With Easter tomorrow I'm thinking, "Whom have I judged by appearances"? Can't we see everyone in the same mercy in which God sees all of us ?
Don't sweat your low feedback bidder. It's always possible that the guy has just woke up......
As long as he pays.

I have, along with most of us, made judgments based on first appearances. Many years ago, I learned my lesson.

Can you still go back on ebay and look at the high bidders profile ?
Only if you are (were) the seller.
