It's interesting to note that all the foreign coins he has in his PCGS and NGC holders are genuine. In fact, ALL of his PCGS certified foreign coins are in 'secure' holders, but, none of his American coins are. His seated dollars are all counterfeits as is the 1798 cent, hard to tell for sure on the others.
some of these PCGS holders look fake to me in his current listing. However, with PCGS constantly changing designs and labels I have no idea what a real holder should look like. This constant changing of holders is also helping the counterfeiters.

I recently picked up a PCGS coin in a new holder for me and spent some time looking around to verify the holder....

for a second i thought this odd too but these type of foreign coins are required to be submitted via secure plus and they come with trueview automatically.
What additional protection do GC/Heritage/Stacks provide beyond the compensation provided by the top TPGs for coins in their official holders.
i dont recall specifically but it has been discussed here so if you dig, you may find one of those threads with the info or links to the auction sites policy regarding this.
PCGS 33181489, J-1310 just sold for $4,056.76 from kiki2010hy.
At least PCGS will stand behind this coin which is a good reason for buying coins in newer, more secure slabs.
Not if they determine it is a counterfeit holder and not their product - they may help you trace back the source of fake and help to prosecute.
Ah. This is in a 5th generation holder which PCGS says is "virtually impossible to replicate." Better holders should provide more confidence.
The holders have not been replicated; these are counterfeit coins in genuine PCGS holders.
Yes... that's why I mentioned it's good to buy coins in "newer, more secure slabs" earlier, which the kiki2010hy PCGS 33181489 is in. Thanks to PCGS for improving slab security.

i am missing the point here since these all made it into newer pcgs, ngc and anacs holders, as i understand it.
obviously a rare happening, this situation, in newer holders but it shows we need to stay up-to-date.
good thing arizona came here with that link(s)
.
The point is that with a more current holder, the holder is more likely to be real. With a real holder, you're backed by a TPG guarantee.
It's a real shame PCGS has not publicly commented on this issue/thread. I am in no way a sophisticated enough Collector to confidently identify these coins. Glad I took the time to read this 6 page thread.
I want to note in this thread that besides the OP's issue of die transfer counterfeits that have been straight graded into PCGS holders, I've been following a certain company in Orlando FL (ebay handle edynamicmarketing) who has had success getting a number of AT ASE's past the grading room at PCGS. After alerting PCGS, there is now an enormous amount of genuine AT'd ASE's on ebay being sold by the same company. I lost count of the number of straight graded ASE's that have been sold thru ebay that were obvious AT'd. Just tonight I noticed a group of toned Ikes that were being sold by the same company. I don't want to play chicken little here, but there are a LOT of issues floating out there right now concerning our hobby.
What I did read, sounded like a case of someone selling counterfeit coin in a counterfeit slab but with pictures of a genuine coin. Can anybody explain the situation here?

Yes, would someone who has taken the time to read this complete thread please take the time to explain what's going on to someone who didn't read this thread?

Excellent synopsis.
Hey braddick, you ever ask someone how a movie was before going to see it? Did they criticize you for asking instead of finding out yourself?

Sure, yet have never done so in the theater while the movie is playing.

Very scary. Looks like another good counterfeit.
I realize this is an old thread, but did anyone save images of the fake 1797 "S-139" from kiki in the PCGS slab 32870411?
Thanks,
