Morgan Dollar Grades Posted

Several years ago, I cracked out a bunch of Morgan dollars and put them in an album. I thought it would be appealing to see an uncirculated set in an album, which it was. I have since (recently) decided to put them back in holders. Here are a few of the grades and what they were formerly graded at. I am more than happy with the results and glad to know my eyes have not failed me and I can still tell an original uncleaned coin when I see one. image



1892-O was ANACS MA62, now PCGS MS63


1899-S was ANACS MS63, now PCGS MS64+


1901-S was ANACS MS62, now PCGS MS62


1902-S was PCI gold label MS64, now PCGS MS63


1883-S was ANACS MS60 Details Clean, now PCGS MS62 (it was not cleaned. ANACS screwed up)


1899-P was ANACS MS63, now PCGS MS64


1900-S was PCGS MS63, now PCGS MS63


1889-S was ANACS MS63, now PCGS MS63


1898-S was ANACS MS63, now PCGS MS62


1881-P was SCG MS66, now PCGS MS64 (I bought for 63 money)


1879-S Rev 78 was PCGS MS61, now PCGS MS62

    I should add, there were about ten others that all graded out at the same as they were previously-mostly PCGS coins.

    Definitely SCG, not SEGS. It is the self slabber on eBay that sells under centsles.

    Jack, Yes. All these were cracked and put into an album for several years. It took me a long time to buy these coins, though. I searched through many coins a year finding the "nice ones".

    Nice Work Buddy! This lot sounds absolutely Cool and Congrats for the obvious great eye's and enough balls to crack 'em, then let 'em settle...and then submit them to the finest TPG in The Game image

    I'll pick on ole Ricko since he has thick skin........image I don't think the OP is too happy with the results having cracked out the coins years ago to store/display them in an album. I don't know if he was hoping some would tone in that time but, come on people, to have 21 coins graded and there was next to absolute 0 improvement? Do the math, the OP gained only .09524 points overall and one plus for eye appeal. This is not even 1/10th of 1 point grade increase overall for 21 coins. What's remarkable is that PCGS consistently honed in within .09524 of the overall former average grade total and how some 40-50 different graders called the same grades over the years the coins were graded.
    On another note, I guess, for a more accurate assessment of the OP's grading abilities or anyone else, he should go out and find 10 certified coins in our host's holders that he believes have been cleaned, submit them raw to see how well he does. Of course, at first, this is not a too feasible thing to do, like we're all going to sit back and cheer the guy on as he stands to lose hundreds...........lol. But I am glad they all reholdered Rampage, good job!
