Type in empty BOLD or ITALIC brackets between each letter of concern.

Without the spaces obviously: [ b ][ /b ] and then it works. The forum software

was not coded well enough to remove these empty sets from posts and then

    run the dictionary check.

    Alfred Hitch*****

    I thought so ...

The only way you can post of the name of the great English film director or the name of the man who signed his name on the Declaration of Independence on bold letters so the King George III could see it is to call them Alfred Hitch-Rooster or John Hand-Rooster. This is censorship at its worst.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I don't know how you can post that name. I have never been able to do it here for well over 10 years.

    .

you only need one bracket [ / b] anywhere in said word for it to work.

    didnt try only [ b ]-

made a post in the test forum to get me banned for life.

don't bother, i changed it, although preview was sufficient. (darn rebellious spirit)

I've used the bold-tag trick for a decade but it's only working sporadically today, for some reason.

This thread shows that it works with the original poster of the words but then if that post is quoted, the forum software strips the extra characters out and then performs the spell check. You can see that in this thread.

What about the pedigrees from the William A*****er collection?

The Harry B***** collection is another one. Or I can just spell it B*****. Nope, $$ signs aren't handled any differently than an "S."

I think that one is OK; Asher

B***** has got to be spelled as Bass. I know this looks the same but you don't see my bracketed 'b' within the banned letters.

I know this is not popular, but I say scrap this stone age software. Start over. Wipe it clean. Let anyone rejoin even banned members. Reban them if they haven't grown up. This software does not work correctly which is crazy in this day in age.

Awesome! We really need to be able to write things like "Asset values" and "Assigned grade" without them coming out *****et values and *****igned grade

The workaround trick is not working. It is asterisking like crazy this morning. I just had to reword one of my posts to say "I couldn't resist this coin" instead of "I couldn't p***** this coin up".

The irony is, the robocensor actually causes a lot MORE attention to be paid to perfectly normal words containing the "forbidden" strings of letters, and actually makes people notice "profanities" that they otherwise wouldn't.

Only problem is that if you use the opening bold tag ( [ b ] ) with out the closing bold tag ( [ /b ] ) then your reply (and signature) gets displayed in B O L D text.

When I hit preview, my word above still shows. Classic! Or perhaps clarseic.
